Hades II Post-Launch Patch 1 is a released update dated October 31, 2025—not the game’s launch update. Its biggest change is an expanded and revised True Ending sequence, alongside an incantation for revisiting an earlier story point, progression adjustments, balance changes and bug fixes. The story details below contain spoilers.
What changed in the story?
Supergiant Games says the update adds events before and after the True Ending, revises parts of the main True Ending scenes before the credits, and increases the number of Underworld clears required to reach it. The scope is limited: “The vast majority of changes are to the Underworld route; the Surface route is mostly unchanged. The Epilogue is also unchanged.” These are the developer’s qualifications in its October 31, 2025 Patch 1 notes.
The notes describe the changes at a high level rather than providing a complete scene-by-scene account. A new Cauldron incantation lets players return to an earlier story point to revisit key events, including the True Ending. Some character-linked Fated Prophecies—including one associated with the story epilogue—also unfold faster.
How did progression and Crossroads costs change?
Many decorative items in the Crossroads Renewal project now cost fewer Kudos. Players who had already spent more Kudos than the revised costs require receive the excess back. Several character-related Prophecies also have adjusted progression, with some events prioritized or requirements eased.

Which combat and build changes are confirmed?
The released notes list targeted adjustments rather than a broad overhaul. The following are examples of confirmed changes:
- Cast interactions: Witch’s Staff (Circe) now applies Scorch from Smolder Ring (Hestia)’s bonus Cast when Casts overlap.
- Boons and blessings: Anvil Ring (Hephaestus) gains damage at Common rarity; Controlled Burn (Hestia) receives a larger bonus from Poms of Power; Ares’ Plasma pickup range increases; and Sword Ring (Ares), Carnal Pleasure (Ares and Aphrodite), and Shadow Pounce (Artemis) become more effective.
- Other effects: Success Rate (Hermes) now also affects Nurture of Hera (Selene and Hera). Gigaros Dash no longer staggers foes when it deals direct damage. Life Tax and Last Gasp (Hades) become more effective, and Life Tax’s restorative effect is no longer reduced by Vow of Scars.
- Additional adjustments: Howling Soul’s projectile aiming is improved, Fight Fight Fight (Echo) is more effective, and Favor (Chaos) also increases the chance of Duo Boons.
- Coat upgrades: Elephant Rockets and Chakra Collider (Shiva) receive increased damage.
- Keepsakes and resources: Yarn of Ariadne raises the chance of finding Duo Boons. Mist Veil restores Magick lost for any reason, not only Magick spent on Omega Moves. Jeweled Pom no longer retains the bonus Hades blessing away from the Fates’ Whim, and a bug that prevented it from ever granting Last Gasp is fixed.
What did Patch 1 fix or adjust beyond combat?
The released notes include new story events and contextual voice lines, along with visual, animation, audio, settings and miscellaneous fixes. They also include encounter and attack adjustments. The earlier preview specifically mentioned changes to certain Heracles and Hecate attack hitboxes, reduced Phantom life-drain effectiveness, and changes involving Nemesis and Circe encounter frequency. Because that list came from a preview rather than the final release notes, treat those individual preview details as provisional unless they are confirmed in the released notes.

Is Patch 1 the same as the October preview?
No. Supergiant posted a work-in-progress preview on October 23, 2025; the released Patch 1 notes followed on October 31. The preview said its contents could evolve, translations were still underway, and it did not provide a full-patch release date. It also recommended backing up saves before using the preview. For the final update’s confirmed content, use the released notes, not the preview as an exact substitute.
