What the reports claim
On May 3, 2026, VGC reported Rebs Gaming’s claim that sources had verified the projects. Rebs said: “Active development is underway; they are in early development.” The statement is attributed to Rebs Gaming’s source chain, not to Microsoft or Halo Studios. VGC’s report
Windows Central reported the following day that two sources had confirmed the projects and described the information as a leak. Its account also refers to an earlier developer claim. What is—and is not—confirmed
The reports characterize the supposed remakes as being in early development, but no official announcement in the sources reviewed confirms that either project exists. There is no verified release date, platform list, final title, feature list, or confirmation that the projects would remake full games or only their campaigns. Multiplayer plans have not been established either.

That distinction matters because Halo Studios has officially announced a different remake: Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the Halo: Combat Evolved campaign. Its announcement does not confirm remakes of Halo 2 or Halo 3. Halo Waypoint’s announcement
How Campaign Evolved fits in
Halo Waypoint announced Halo: Campaign Evolved for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5 in 2026. It describes a ground-up remake of the original campaign with new missions and cooperative play. Xbox Wire’s October 24, 2025 interview adds that it is a complete Unreal Engine 5 remake, with updated visuals and animations, remastered music, re-recorded voice lines, three new missions, and local and online co-op. The planned platforms listed there are Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5, with Game Pass availability planned for 2026. Do Halo Studios’ other announcements confirm the projects?
No. In October 2024, Halo Studios announced that it was working on multiple Halo games using Unreal Engine 5. The announcement did not name Halo 2 or Halo 3 remakes, so it offers broad context rather than confirmation of these specific claims. VGC’s coverage of the 2024 announcement
Microsoft’s September 22, 2026 organizational update said Activision would develop the next Halo title with a new purpose-built team, while a small Halo Studios team would support the community and games already in market. When could the remakes release?
No release date or window has been established for either reported project. Because even their existence has not been officially confirmed, a release prediction would be speculation. The 2026 timing announced for Halo: Campaign Evolved is specific to that separate game and should not be applied to Halo 2 or Halo 3.
