Hell Let Loose: Vietnam Spawn Bug—Can’t Deploy on an Outpost or Garrison?

Team17 deployed Iris replication fixes for Hell Let Loose: Vietnam spawn failures, but its latest reviewed updates did not confirm the issue fully resolved.

If you can’t spawn on an Outpost or Garrison in Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, first check whether the spawn is valid for your unit and still selectable. Team17 has also acknowledged reports of unavailable spawn points linked to a suspected Iris replication problem. Hotfix 1.5.2 introduced replication fixes, but the developer said monitoring was ongoing; Patch 1.6 did not explicitly declare this issue resolved. The official investigation discussed here concerns Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, not necessarily the original Hell Let Loose.

First check whether the spawn point is available to you

Outposts are unit-specific

An Outpost can be used only by members of the unit whose Officer placed it. If it belongs to another unit, you cannot deploy there; choose a Garrison or ask your Officer to place an Outpost for your unit. The official guide explains the distinction.

Garrisons are team-wide

A Garrison is available to the whole team. Select an eligible spawn on the map and click Deploy, as described in the official deployment guide. Red spawn icons indicate nearby enemies; check the map and the spawn’s status before treating a single unavailable point as a bug.

How to tell a rules issue from the reported bug

Look at the scope of the failure. One Outpost that belongs to another unit is consistent with the normal spawn rule. Multiple eligible spawns failing—including Garrisons or HQ spawns—or repeated problems across a longer session more closely resemble the reports Team17 described.

#1 Best Overall
  • One Outpost unavailable: Confirm that it belongs to your current unit.
  • Several eligible spawns unavailable: Note whether the problem affects Outposts, Garrisons, HQ spawns, or other deployable objects.
  • Recurring or long-session failure: Record when it began and whether it followed a match ending or continued across matches.
  • Unclear game identity: Confirm that you are playing Hell Let Loose: Vietnam. The official investigation and status below apply to that title.

What Team17 says is causing the Vietnam reports

In its September 25, 2026 Community Feedback #5 update, Team17 reported disappearing HQ spawns, unavailable Garrisons and Outposts, and failures to select or place spawn points. The studio said information might not be cleared correctly when a match ended, increasing the chance that spawn points, HQs, and other objects would fail to replicate over multiple matches. Team17 described this as a suspected contributor, not a confirmed explanation for every player’s incident. See the September 25 update.

The update identified Iris, the system used to replicate game state between servers and players, as an area under investigation. Team17 suspected that replication issues could contribute to server degradation over longer sessions, causing game objects to behave or appear incorrectly. It advised community-server owners to restart servers regularly as a way to help with possible degradation; this is server-owner guidance, not a guaranteed player-side workaround. The Hotfix 1.5.2 notes describe Iris and the intended fixes.

What changed, and is the bug fixed?

Date Update What it establishes
September 25, 2026 Community Feedback #5 Team17 acknowledged the spawn and deployment reports and described a suspected replication contributor. Official update
September 29, 2026 Hotfix 1.5.2 Released on all platforms with Iris replication improvements intended to reduce degradation during longer server sessions. Hotfix notes
October 1, 2026 Community Feedback #6 Team17 said early feedback from some community-server owners was encouraging, but monitoring continued. It also continued tracking Mortars and other deployable objects that might not spawn or display correctly. Official update
October 7, 2026 Patch 1.6 The notes list 100+ changes but do not explicitly name this Outpost/Garrison availability issue as resolved. That omission does not prove the hotfix failed. Patch notes; Patch overview

The most precise status is that replication fixes were deployed and Team17 was still monitoring; full resolution was not confirmed in the official updates reviewed. The October 1 update said: “We don’t want to consider the issue completely resolved based on only a short period of testing, so we’ll continue monitoring servers over the coming days.” This was attributed to the development team, not a named individual. Read the update.

What to do if you still can’t deploy

  1. Check the Outpost rule: Verify that the Outpost belongs to your current unit; otherwise select a Garrison or ask your Officer for an Outpost.
  2. Check the map: Confirm that the spawn point is present and selectable, and note its status or nearby-enemy indicator.
  3. Update the game: For Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, install the current build available on your platform. Team17’s stated intervention is a software and server replication fix; it has not published a guaranteed player-side workaround for persistent failures.
  4. Report a persistent failure: Include your platform, map, mode, faction, role, affected spawn points, what happened immediately before the failure, and screenshots or video. Team17 says these details help its team reproduce an issue; see its reporting guidance.

These reports do not establish that buying a mouse, controller, router, or server component will fix the problem. The developer’s investigation points to replication behavior, and its updates provide no evidence that such purchases help.
