Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Team17 acknowledged connection, server-stability and client-crash problems after Hell Let Loose Update 18 in October 2025, and separately reported that some of its servers were affected by attacks on hosting provider Qonzer. The official material reviewed does not establish whether broader connection problems remained unresolved—or whether an ETA existed—on October 8, 2026. So “no ETA in sight” is not a verified current-status claim.
What Team17 confirmed about the problems
In an October 21, 2025 statement, the Hell Let Loose team said: “We want to acknowledge the ongoing issues some players are experiencing, including server instability and client-side crashes following Update 18 and its recent hotfix.” Team17 later announced Hotfix 2 as addressing the crash cause related to physics materials. That fix was specific to the identified client-crash issue; it does not establish that every connection or server problem was resolved.

In a November 3, 2025 developer brief, Team17 described a separate factor: attacks affecting servers at provider Qonzer. The team said, “This is not an issue within Team17 or the game itself, but a result of server providers coming under attack.” That statement described the provider-attack incident, not every failure to connect. The brief relayed Qonzer’s account of a 29.1 terabits-per-second attack on a core protection network and said 15–20% of clients were affected, with some of those clients on Hell Let Loose servers. Team17 also cited attack sizes of 100–1,000 GB/s as possible at the time, compared with 10–30 GB/s a year earlier. These are figures Team17 reported from the incident account, not independent measurements.
The announcements are historical. They do not confirm the cause of a player’s current error, a live outage, or a current repair timetable.

Identify the symptom before troubleshooting
The exact message is a better starting point than the broad label “connection issue.” Record the wording as shown, along with your platform and storefront, region, and whether the problem affects one server or many. A message alone does not identify the cause.
| Message or situation | First checks | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| “No Compatible Servers Found” | Check that the live game branch is selected, then check firewall access and nearby regions. On Steam, try increasing the server-browser ping limit. | The server-browser ping setting advice is Steam-specific. The friends tab can be empty if no friends are online or in a match. |
| “Lost Connection to Host” | Use Team17’s dedicated troubleshooting article for network ports, DNS, IPv6 settings, possible software conflicts and restarting the PC. | These are suggested checks, not guaranteed fixes. |
| “A Network Error Has Occurred. Please try again.” | Note when it appears and whether it affects one server or multiple servers; compare the timing with platform maintenance. | The wording alone does not establish that Steam maintenance or a provider attack is responsible. |
Try the relevant troubleshooting steps
If the browser says “No Compatible Servers Found”
- Confirm you are running the live Hell Let Loose branch, not the deactivated Public Testing branch.
- Check whether your firewall allows the game’s network access.
- Try servers in nearby regions.
- If you play on Steam, increase Steam’s server-browser ping setting and search again.
- If you use the friends tab, check whether any friends are online and in a match; an empty result can be normal when none are.
- If the issue persists, Team17 mentions trying a VPN as an optional experiment. It is not a guaranteed fix or a general recommendation to buy a VPN.
If you see “Lost Connection to Host”
Follow the checks in Team17’s “Lost Connection to Host” guide. It covers network ports, flushing DNS, IPv6 settings, possible software conflicts and restarting your PC. If those checks do not help, contact Team17 support with the exact error and what you have tried.

- HOW TO PLAY: The Dealer draws a Scenario Card and reads it aloud. The other players choose two of their Action Cards and play them, facedown. The Dealer shuffles the Action Cards and picks the one they definitely would not do, saying "HELL NO!" Then, they pick the Action Card they definitely would do, saying "HELL YEAH!"
- SITUATION: While scuba diving, your wound starts bleeding, and sharks begin to circle. What do you do?
- ACTION: Ask for an autograph! Hell No
- ACTION: Use your jetpack to escape! Hell Yeah
- REPEAT PLAY: With 135 Situation Cards and 387 Action Cards you'll never run out of wild predicaments
If the problem coincides with Steam maintenance
Team17’s Steam maintenance guidance says to retry after maintenance and contact support if access problems persist. This is a general explanation, not confirmation that maintenance caused a particular outage.
