The lower tunnels beneath Bellhart Bellway are a compact route for repeat searches. The wish becomes available after Hornet defeats Widow and Bellhart is freed.
Unlock the Silver Bells wish
After defeating Widow and freeing Bellhart, accept the Silver Bells Gather Wish at the town’s wishwall. The request is to salvage eight Silver Bells from the bellveins. Residents of Bellhart describe them as rare finds that would be useful as material; the Hollow Knight Wiki reproduces the in-game request on its Silver Bells page.
Where Silver Bells spawn
Search the bellvein tunnels both above and below Bellhart. Silver Bells are random drops at designated spawn points, not eight fixed pickups waiting at particular spots. The Hollow Knight Wiki’s item page lists seven spawn locations above Bellhart and seven below it, and reports a 25% Silver Bell chance per location, rising to 30% with Magnetite Dice. Those are community-wiki mechanics, not official developer-published figures or independently tested results.
Mapped examples include a spawn area at X 9255, Y 12508 below Bellhart Bellway and another at X 9274, Y 13864 in the tunnels above the Widow arena. These coordinates identify areas where a drop can occur; they do not mark guaranteed bell pickups. The coordinates come from the Gamer Guides Silver Bell database.

Efficient route: loop the lower bellvein
- Enter Bellhart Bellway. At the bottom of the station, go right and break the secret wall to reach the lower bellvein.
- Sweep the tunnels. Move through the rooms and watch for glowing drops. Since each spawn point can produce other drops, check the route rather than expecting every location to yield a Silver Bell.
- Repeat the route or refresh the room. The lower tunnels are compact and convenient for loops. PC Gamer’s Silver Bells guide recommends leaving and re-entering after finding two or three bells to refresh the room; the Hollow Knight Wiki instead describes looping through the lower tunnels as drops reset. Treat room re-entry as an alternative if you prefer a fresh sweep, not a required step.
- Keep count until you have eight. The wish requires eight Silver Bells total; you can search the upper tunnels as well if you want another set of areas to check.
- Return to Bellhart’s wishwall. Turn in the eight bells to complete the wish.
How the drops behave
The Hollow Knight Wiki reports that a spawn location selects its drop when Hornet enters the room. It says a drop appears when Hornet approaches within 14 units or automatically after 15 seconds; once present, it remains for at least eight seconds and may disappear if Hornet moves more than 15 units away. A collected Silver Bell’s location is reported to prepare another drop after five to eight seconds. The wiki also describes limits on consecutive regular and Silver Bell drops. These detailed timings and limits are community-reported mechanics, so use them as guidance rather than guaranteed timing for every run.
