Has Feed and Grow: Fish Been Ruined? What Its Status and Player Reports Show

Steam’s Early Access listing shows a long gap in developer updates, while players report launch and feature problems. That supports concern, but does not prove an official abandonment announcement.

It depends on what “ruined” means. If you mean unfinished, apparently inactive, and unreliable for some players, the evidence explains why players describe Feed and Grow: Fish that way. Steam still lists it as an Early Access game and says its last developer update was over four years ago. Players have also reported launch failures, bugs, and unavailable or changed features. But Steam’s listing and those reports do not establish that the developers have officially abandoned the game—or that nobody still enjoys it.

What is the game’s official status?

Steam lists Feed and Grow: Fish as an Early Access action, indie, and simulation game. It was released on January 8, 2016, and is developed by Old B1ood and published by Greens s.r.o. Steam’s store page also displays the notice: “The last update made by the developers was over 4 years ago.” That is a relative notice shown on the listing, not a precise update date or a statement from the developers about their intentions. Steam cautions that “Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further.”

Taken together, the listing supports a conclusion of prolonged inactivity while the game remains marked Early Access. It does not confirm permanent abandonment: no current official developer statement establishing that was found in the sources reviewed.

Why do players say it has been ruined?

Some Steam reviews and community discussions describe problems that can make the game frustrating, including difficulty starting it, bugs, features that are missing or have changed, and multiplayer being unavailable. These are individual player reports, not independently reproduced findings or evidence that every player experiences the same problems. Steam reviews and community discussions can help identify concerns, but they do not establish a failure rate.

Launch trouble is a reported issue, not a confirmed universal fault

A January 2025 discussion includes players saying the game would not start. It also includes unofficial suggestions such as trying a launch parameter, alongside a claim that offline play should work. These are community comments, not official support guidance or guaranteed fixes; their usefulness may depend on the system and game version. Check the discussion thread before relying on a workaround, and treat advice there as experimental.

A fan revival claim is not an official commitment

A January 2025 community post describes a group trying to revive the game. That is a community claim: the sources reviewed do not verify the effort’s status or show that it is an official sequel, developer-led update, or support commitment. The discussion is on Steam.

What do Steam’s reviews tell you?

When accessed on October 8, 2026, Steam showed 80% positive from 13,001 English-language reviews overall and 83% positive from 148 recent reviews. These are changing storefront snapshots, not a stability test. A positive aggregate score cannot tell you whether the game will launch on your particular computer, whether a specific mode works, or whether the title is complete. See Steam’s current listing for figures that may have changed.

Is it still worth buying?

The answer depends on what you expect from an Early Access game with a long gap in updates. It may still suit someone willing to accept bugs and uncertainty in exchange for playing what is available now. It is a riskier choice if you need dependable startup, a particular feature or multiplayer mode, or ongoing developer support. The positive review snapshot is one signal of player sentiment; it is not a guarantee that the experience you want will work.

  • Consider it if: you are comfortable with an unfinished game, can tolerate possible technical problems, and are interested in trying its current state rather than waiting for promised future development.
  • Be cautious if: you are buying specifically for a feature players report as unavailable, need reliable multiplayer, or expect active updates and support.
  • Before deciding: check the current Steam listing and recent player discussions for issues relevant to your system and the features you care about. Community suggestions may be outdated or unverified.
