What gameplay items are in the Warbonds?
Two 2026 announcements illustrate why the headline needs a distinction between gameplay content and stratagems specifically.

The Gas Mortar Sentry is a gameplay-relevant addition, but it is a sentry, not simply another name for a stratagem. The Lumberer and Breakthrough are identified as Exosuits. Calling every Warbond item a “new stratagem” blurs those categories.
Does a Premium Warbond mean you must spend cash?
The Warbond announcements specify Super Credits as a requirement, but they do not say that those credits must be bought with real money. In an August 7, 2026 Xbox Wire announcement, Xbox says the Warhammer 40,000 Legendary Warbond can be unlocked for 1,500 Super Credits and that credits can be found in-game or purchased separately.

That establishes an in-game currency route for Super Credits, alongside a purchase option. It does not establish how quickly players earn credits, how much play is required, or the precise price or earning conditions for every other Warbond. So “paywall” is fair shorthand for a gate around Premium Warbond content, but the cited evidence does not prove cash is the sole way through it.
Is the EAT Stratagem itself locked in a Warbond?
The September 15, 2026 Ironclad Democracy announcement describes a booster that grants two free uses per mission of the EAT stratagem. That is a booster affecting access to uses, not an independently unlocked stratagem. The distinction matters when describing what a Warbond adds.

What does the evidence establish—and what does it not?
The specific announcements establish that gameplay-relevant equipment has been included in Premium Warbonds and that the named Warbonds require Super Credits and game progression. They do not provide a complete accounting of every new stratagem, every Warbond’s currency cost, the time needed to earn currency, or a universal rule for future releases. Arrowhead’s position, as quoted in PC Gamer’s May 8, 2026 report, was “to strike the right balance between what’s included in the warbonds and what’s available through gameplay”.
