The reporting called the figure a “Tripod,” also used “Sentinel,” and attributed its beam and weak-point behavior to the leaker. The distinction matters now that Illuminate forces are part of official live content: Arrowhead’s 2026 Void update does not, by itself, confirm the identity or mechanics in that older leak.
What the leaked screenshot reportedly showed
Dexerto reported on August 13, 2024, that Reddit user IronS1ghts posted what the outlet described as the first in-game screenshot of an Illuminate enemy to the HellDiversLeaks community. The report characterized the enemy as large—comparable in scale to a Bile Titan or Factory Strider—and said it was also called a “Sentinel.” Those labels and size comparisons come from secondary coverage of a leak, not an official specification from Arrowhead.
Dexerto contrasted the alleged enemy with Tripods from the first Helldivers, describing those as roughly player-sized and more basic. That, too, is the outlet’s comparison rather than an independently confirmed design-history detail. Read Dexerto’s August 13, 2024 report.
What the leak claimed about its beam and weak point
According to Dexerto’s account of IronS1ghts’ post, the enemy’s eye fired a beam in horizontal, vertical, and erratic modes. The report also attributed to the leaker the claim that damaging the eye would disable the beam and make the enemy arc electricity. VideoGamer’s August 4, 2024 coverage likewise repeated claims about the eye and its firing modes.

These are reported leak claims, not verified gameplay instructions or confirmed enemy behavior. Dexerto quoted the description as: “Its eye fires a beam that has 3 separate firing modes: Horizontal, Vertical, and Erratic.” The outlet attributed those words to IronS1ghts; no official statement in the cited material validates them. On August 18, 2026, Arrowhead’s official PlayStation Blog post said Helldivers had opened a wormhole on Rirga Bay and entered the Void. It describes Illuminate ruins and ancient technologies, identifies Seasse as the Source Planet, and names enemies including the Wretch and Crusher. It also discusses new objectives and randomized primary objectives during operations.

That post establishes that the Illuminate and the Void are part of official live Helldivers 2 content. It does not identify the leaked Tripod/Sentinel as one of the named enemies or confirm the screenshot’s alleged mechanics. Arrowhead Community Manager Katherine Baskin wrote, “The Gateway is now open,” in connection with that update—not the 2024 leak. Read Arrowhead’s August 18, 2026 Void update post.

What is confirmed—and what is not
- Reported in 2024: IronS1ghts shared a screenshot that news coverage described as an in-game Illuminate enemy; the coverage called it a Tripod and also reported the name Sentinel.
- Attributed to the leaker: the eye-beam modes and the effect of damaging the eye.
- Officially established in 2026: Arrowhead’s Void update places Illuminate forces, locations, and operations in the game’s live content.
- Not established by these sources: that Arrowhead authenticated the 2024 screenshot, that “Tripod” or “Sentinel” is the official name of the pictured enemy, or that its alleged beam behavior matches the released game.
