Hollow Knight: Silksong released on September 4, 2025, and is available now. Team Cherry lists Nintendo Switch 2 among the game’s platforms, alongside the original Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
When did Hollow Knight: Silksong release?
Hollow Knight: Silksong launched on September 4, 2025. Nintendo UK lists that date as 04/09/2025 on its Nintendo Switch download-software page; Team Cherry’s release announcement confirms the game is available now.

Is Silksong on Nintendo Switch 2?
Yes. Team Cherry’s official platform list includes both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo Canada’s store listing also gives the September 4, 2025 release date and Switch 2 compatibility information.

What is coming next?
In December 2025, Team Cherry announced Sea of Sorrow, a Silksong expansion planned for 2026. That is separate from the original game’s September 2025 release, and the announcement does not by itself confirm that the expansion has launched. Team Cherry also discussed a planned 2026 Switch 2 Edition of the original Hollow Knight, which Switch owners are to receive free when it launches.
