This guide defines support broadly, separates the roles that are often conflated, and preserves the source’s Eidolon assumptions so the placements are useful rather than misleading.
What counts as a support character here?
This ranking uses “support” for playable characters whose kits materially help a team succeed by amplifying allies, enabling turns, energy or skill points, applying useful debuffs, dealing support damage, or keeping the team alive. Including sustain means the scope is broader than lists that reserve “support” for amplifiers and enablers alone. HSR Build separates main DPS, sub-DPS, support, and sustain; Prydwen distinguishes support DPS, amplifiers, and sustain. Their categories are not interchangeable.
The placements below report HSR Build’s Version 4.6 support-column snapshot. They are not a new independent ranking of every playable character, and this source does not establish a complete re-ranking of the entire roster. Pocket Gamer’s October 3, 2026 update identifies Version 4.6.1 and Pearl’s addition, so its latest general tier-list update is newer than the detailed Version 4.6 role ranking used here. Support character rankings
HSR Build’s support column places the following characters in the tiers shown. Where the source attaches an Eidolon level to a placement, it is included here; an E6 placement should not be read as the same evaluation at E0.

The source’s tiers concern content that rewards damage, and HSR Build cautions that its editorial placements do not determine what is best for an account with different teams. Why other tier lists may look different
Tier labels are not a shared scoring system. StarPatch’s community list, opened as a Version 4.5 page dated September 17, 2026, places Robin • Summeretto, Sparkle, Robin, Ruan Mei, Fu Xuan, Huohuo, and Bronya in S tier. It explicitly says its tiers reflect community meta rather than official HoYoverse data. That list includes sustain alongside amplifiers and other supports, while HSR Build uses separate role columns and T0/T1 labels. No official universal character ranking is established by these sources. HSR Build describes its placements as editorial judgments, and StarPatch disclaims official status. Treat any tier list as an interpretation of a particular patch, content scope, and team context—not a game-issued ranking.
How to decide which support fits your team
Start with the endgame mode
A support’s value can change with the challenge. Prydwen describes Memory of Chaos as rewarding blast and single-target performance, Pure Fiction as favoring AoE, and Apocalyptic Shadow as heavily favoring single-target damage and Break potential. Identify the job your team needs
- Amplification: Look for a character who improves the damage plan your carry uses.
- Turn, energy, or skill-point help: Consider whether the team needs more frequent actions, energy access, or relief from skill-point pressure.
- Debuffs or support damage: A character may enable a carry by weakening enemies or adding damage without being the primary damage dealer.
- Sustain: If survival is the team’s bottleneck, a healer or defensive character can be support in the broad sense used here, even when another list places sustain in its own category.
Check Eidolons and investment
Read the assumed Eidolon level attached to a placement. HSR Build’s E6 listings for Pela, Tingyun, Asta, and Trailblazer (Harmony) describe those listed versions, not an interchangeable E0 result. Build investment and team composition also matter to how useful a character is in practice.
Balance breadth against peak strength
A broadly useful option and a character with exceptional value in a particular team or mode answer different questions. Compare the role your roster needs, the archetype you are building, and the mode you are preparing for instead of choosing solely by the tier label.
