Error code 80151103 has been reported when downloading or signing in to an Xbox 360 profile, but no official Microsoft explanation for this exact code was identified. One Xbox user reported success after deleting the local profile and downloading it again over a phone hotspot. That is an anecdotal workaround, not a confirmed or guaranteed fix.
Before you try the workaround: protect your saved data
If you remove the local profile, select Delete Profile Only. The community post describing the workaround says this removes the profile but keeps its associated saved games and achievements. Do not select Delete Profile and Items: that option removes the profile and those associated items.
Try deleting and redownloading the profile
The steps below reflect one user’s report on Microsoft Q&A, not an official Microsoft procedure. Menu labels may vary slightly by console or system version.
- Remove only the local profile: On the Xbox 360, open Settings > System > Storage > Profiles. Select the affected profile, choose Delete, then choose Delete Profile Only.
- Connect to a phone hotspot: Connect the console to your phone’s mobile hotspot. This was part of the reported workaround; the post does not establish why changing the connection helped.
- Download the profile: Use the console’s Download Profile option and enter the Microsoft account email address and password associated with the profile.
- If it fails, retry carefully: The original post says the user tried the download again from the profile menu and then succeeded. It also mentions unusual timing and button presses, but those details are anecdotal and not independently verified, so they should not be treated as required or Microsoft-approved steps.
The report was posted on March 20, 2022, and two brief replies on the same thread said the workaround helped them. That is limited community corroboration; it does not establish how often the steps work or identify the cause of the error. Read the Microsoft Q&A thread.

If the profile still will not download
Stop before choosing Delete Profile and Items if you want to preserve the associated local saves and achievements. For persistent account or profile trouble, contact Xbox Support for account-specific help. The available support referral concerns different Xbox 360 profile error codes, so it does not promise a particular resolution for 80151103.
Does this mean your Microsoft account is broken?
Not necessarily. A separate 2026 community thread describes other Xbox 360 profile sign-in codes—8015190A and 8015D000—occurring even though the account worked on Xbox Series X. Those are different codes and do not establish the cause of 80151103, but they illustrate that legacy profile sign-in trouble can be distinct from ordinary account access.
