This is a historical roundup, not a list of upcoming releases. On January 7, 2022, MobileSyrup’s Bradly Shankar highlighted ten games then expected to launch sometime that year, while warning that schedules could change. Two later release records make that caveat concrete: Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course arrived on Nintendo Switch on June 30, 2022, while Goodbye Volcano High reached PlayStation on August 29, 2023.
The 10 games in the 2022 preview
Shankar’s list brought together games associated with Canadian studios or developers, spanning different genres, platforms and studio sizes. “Canadian-made” describes the development connection highlighted in the article; it does not mean every contributor to every game was Canadian. For example, Studio MDHR was described as based in Oakville, Ontario, with additional developers in Canada and elsewhere.
- Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course
- Gotham Knights
- Goodbye Volcano High
- Nightingale
- Nobody Saves the World
- Rainbow Six Extraction
- Sea of Stars
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
- Tunic
- Venba
The original preview included a developer or publisher, genre, platform and expected timing for each title as understood at publication. Those timing details belong to the January 2022 snapshot, not a current release calendar, and should not be treated as confirmed outcomes.
What later release records show
Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course
Nintendo’s Canada store lists the add-on as released on June 30, 2022, published by StudioMDHR. It is a digital Nintendo Switch add-on and requires the original Cuphead.

Goodbye Volcano High
PlayStation Canada lists the game for PS4 and PS5 with an August 29, 2023 release date—after the year anticipated in the preview. It is a clear example of why the roundup’s release windows should be read as expectations at the time, rather than final launch dates.

Why the preview included a release-date warning
Shankar explicitly cautioned that schedules could shift: “And, of course, with the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to rage on, it’s important to remember that dates may shift and games end up getting delayed beyond 2022.” That was the author’s contemporaneous warning in the MobileSyrup feature published January 7, 2022.
The article also explained its choice to include Rainbow Six Extraction despite workplace controversy, writing: “The goal, then, is to celebrate their work — not executives — with whatever coverage we provide.” This was Shankar’s stated editorial rationale for covering the game, not an independent finding about the controversy.

- ALL-TIME FAMILY FAVORITE: Classic Yahtzee is the best-selling and most famous dice game of all-time. Families and friends have been enjoying this American icon since the fabulous 50's
- THE BACKGROUND: Luck plays a big role in Yahtzee, but strategy makes a huge difference. You score each combination just once, and the number of different combinations you can score is equal to the number of turns in the game
- THE PLAY: Roll all 5 dice on your turn. If you don't like what you've rolled, you can keep any amount of dice and re-roll the rest up to 2 more times
- FAST PACED: The game ends after each player has 13 turns and filled every box in the column with a score or a zero. The Player or Team with the highest total score for all games (up to six) wins
- WHAT ARE THE ODDS?: Did you know that the odds of rolling a Yahtzee (5 OF A KIND) on your first roll are 1295 to 1? So you won't see that happen very often
How to use this list now
- Read it as a snapshot of Canadian game development coverage published in January 2022, not as recommendations for games still awaiting release.
- Keep the original timing attached to its publication date; the preview itself warned that dates could move.
- Do not assume that the two later-confirmed release records establish the outcome or present-day availability of the other eight titles.
