That was a pre-launch estimate attributed to Alinea Analytics and reported by PC Games Insider on 15 August 2025—not a current Steam wishlist count or ranking. The game has since launched, and Team Cherry later reported more than seven million purchases, a separate measure from wishlists.
What the 4.8 million figure means
PC Games Insider reported on 15 August 2025 that Silksong had nearly five million Steam wishlists. The outlet attributed the 4.8 million estimate and first-place ranking to Alinea Analytics’ Rhys Elliott. The figure describes a reported snapshot before launch; Steam does not publish a live wishlist count on the game’s store page.
The same report said 20% of wishlists came from the United States and 15% from China, with Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan and Russia also among the top ten countries. Those are figures from that dated report, not a current breakdown. PC Games Insider’s 15 August 2025 report also compared the game’s reported total with Battlefield 6 at 2.8 million, Arc Raiders at 2.5 million, Dying Light: The Beast at 2.3 million and Borderlands 4 at 1.8 million. These were contemporaneous estimates, not present-day chart positions.
Wishlists, purchases and Game Pass players are different measures
A wishlist records interest before a purchase; it is not a sale, a player count or proof that every person who added the game intended to buy it. After launch, Team Cherry reported: “That’s over seven million of you who’ve purchased the game, alongside millions more playing on Xbox Game Pass!” The developer’s Holiday 2025 post is the source for those figures. Purchasers and Game Pass players are distinct audiences, and neither number updates the earlier wishlist estimate. Team Cherry’s statement is a publisher disclosure, not an audited sales report. Silksong has already been released
Steam lists Hollow Knight: Silksong as released on 4 September 2025, with Team Cherry named as developer and publisher. The store describes Hornet’s journey through Pharloom and lists the game as single-player, with achievements, Steam Cloud, Remote Play on TV and Family Sharing. Its description advertises more than 200 foes and more than 40 bosses; those are publisher-provided content figures. See the Steam store listing. The US page displayed a $19.99 price when checked for the cited information; prices can differ by region and change over time.
What was announced for the next chapter
In the same Holiday 2025 post, Team Cherry announced Silksong – Sea of Sorrow, a nautically themed expansion planned as free for players in 2026. The developer said it would include new areas, bosses and tools. That announcement establishes the plan at the time of the post; it does not establish whether the expansion is available now. Where to find official Silksong figurines
Team Cherry announced mini-figurines made with Studio Tyto, depicting Hornet and characters described as her friends and rivals, and directed readers to Fangamer’s collection. This confirms an official merchandise route through Fangamer, but does not establish current stock or availability through Amazon.
