Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf you can’t use your usual two-factor authentication (2FA) method, choose Try another way on Epic’s sign-in prompt and use an available email code or saved backup code. If none of the listed methods works, use Epic’s account-recovery flow. These are official ways to verify account ownership—not ways to bypass 2FA.
Try another verification method
At the 2FA prompt, select Try another way. The options depend on the methods available for your account.

- Email Verification: Choose it if offered, check the inbox for the email address linked to your Epic account, and enter the code in the security-code field. Check spam or junk if the message is not in your inbox.
- Backup code: If you saved the codes Epic provided when you enabled authenticator-app 2FA, select the backup-code option and enter one of the 8-digit codes.
Epic supports Epic Authenticator in the Epic Games and Epic Games Store apps, third-party authenticator apps, email codes, and SMS codes. Supported third-party apps named by Epic include Google Authenticator, LastPass Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and Authy. Some regional phone numbers may not be eligible for SMS 2FA. Epic’s instructions for being locked out by authenticator-app or SMS 2FA explain these options.
If you can’t use any listed method, request account recovery
- Return to the Epic Games sign-in page and select Trouble signing in?
- Enter the email address associated with your account.
- Follow the recovery route Epic displays. Depending on the account and whether Epic can verify it, you may be offered email recovery or asked for additional information.
Recovery is an attempt to restore access, not a guaranteed outcome. Epic does not state a general recovery deadline in its account-recovery instructions.

- If you play Fortnite experiences on a console device, you need to link your Epic Games account to your console account(s) so items purchased at Fortnite.com/item-shop appear across all of your linked accounts
- Requires internet connection, valid Epic account and prior acceptance of the terms
- Redemption: Online
Fix a code that isn’t working
- Email or SMS code: Wait for a fresh code and enter the newest one rather than an earlier message. For email, check spam or junk.
- Authenticator code: Wait for the app to refresh, then check that your device’s date and time are set to synchronize automatically.
- Still locked out: Return to Try another way or follow Epic’s lost-2FA instructions.
After you regain access
Open Password and security in your Epic account settings and change or remove the 2FA method you can no longer access. Epic strongly recommends enabling 2FA again to keep the account secure; choose a method you can reliably reach and store any backup codes somewhere safe.

Reset your Epic password and the password for the email account linked to Epic. If you have a console or other external account linked, Epic says you can try signing in with that account’s credentials. If those steps do not restore access, continue through Epic account recovery.
Quick Recap
Best Value
- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.
- Redemption: Online
