If you own F1 23 for PS4, EA says console dual entitlement lets you upgrade to the PS5 version at no additional cost. Does your F1 PS4 game qualify for a free PS5 upgrade?
EA’s dual-entitlement statement applies specifically to F1 23: a console PS4 copy can be upgraded to the corresponding PS5 version at no additional cost. EA’s F1 23 information describes that entitlement. It does not establish that every F1 game, year, edition, or purchase format has the same offer.

EA’s F1 23 help listing identifies PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 as supported platforms and names Standard and Champions editions. Check the year and edition printed on the game case or shown in your purchase record before relying on the F1 23 entitlement.
How to check for the PS5 version
- Identify the exact game. Confirm that it is F1 23, rather than another year’s release, and note whether it is Standard or Champions edition.
- Sign in to the owning PlayStation account. Use the account that bought or redeemed the PS4 copy.
- Check the official game information and PlayStation Store offer for that title and edition. Look for an eligible PS5 version or upgrade associated with your owned copy. The available official information establishes F1 23’s console dual entitlement, but does not document the exact current claim screens for every account or purchase format.
- Confirm the entitlement before paying. Do not buy another copy until you have checked whether the owning account exposes an eligible PS5 version.
Does upgrading transfer your career save?
Game entitlement and saved progress are separate issues. EA’s entitlement information does not promise that a PS4 career or other save will transfer to PS5. In an EA community discussion, one player reported that their PS4 save was available only in the PS4 version. That is an individual report, not an official, comprehensive compatibility rule; do not assume your progress will carry over unless EA confirms support for your specific game.

What if your game is not F1 23?
Do not apply the F1 23 offer automatically to another release. An EA forum thread about F1 22 includes a community manager reply concerning Champions Edition dual entitlement, but also a later complaint that the PS4 version remained unavailable. That discussion does not establish a guaranteed current upgrade route for every F1 22 owner. Check the F1 22 discussion and the current offer for your own account rather than assuming eligibility.
Likewise, EA’s F1 25 disclaimer about F1 24 content concerns same-generation platform requirements for that content; it is not a general promise that older PS4 F1 purchases can be upgraded to PS5. EA’s F1 25 disclaimer says the referenced content requires F1 24 on the same platform generation as F1 25 and is unavailable on PS4 and Xbox One.
