Check the launcher that manages your copy of Cyberpunk 2077. On Epic Games Store, CD PROJEKT RED says REDmod is installed automatically with game version 1.6 or later; an installed add-on icon is the indicator. On Steam or GOG, check the REDmod DLC’s status. If you need another check on Windows, look for toolsredmodbinredMod.exe inside the game folder.
Check REDmod in your game platform
REDmod is a free DLC, but the installation check differs by platform. Follow the instructions for the launcher that manages your game rather than assuming every store handles it the same way. CD PROJEKT RED’s official REDmod support page describes these platform distinctions.

Find the Windows game-folder check
Open the folder where Cyberpunk 2077 is installed, then navigate to toolsredmodbin and look for redMod.exe. The official support page identifies this as the location of the modding command-line tool after the free DLC is installed. Finding the executable supports the conclusion that REDmod is present, but it does not prove that every game or DLC file is intact.
Do not mistake a mod for REDmod
A REDmod-compatible mod may be placed in the game’s mods directory and may include a JSON manifest named info.json. Those details identify a mod’s format or placement; they do not, on their own, confirm that the REDmod DLC is installed.

Older mods stored in the archive folder are a separate case. Cyberpunk 2077 continues to support those legacy mods, but they do not appear in the REDmod menu. Their presence is not evidence that REDmod is installed. The Patch 1.6 notes describe the PC modding-tool changes, the new mods folder, and continued archive-folder support; they provide feature context rather than current launcher instructions.

What to do if the checks disagree
- Identify your platform. Confirm whether Epic, Steam, or GOG manages the installed game; Epic’s automatic-install behavior does not apply to the other platforms.
- Check the platform’s DLC or add-on status. On Epic, confirm the game is version 1.6 or later and look for REDmod’s installed add-on icon. On Steam or GOG, check the REDmod DLC entry and follow the launcher’s install instructions.
- On Windows, inspect the game folder. Look for
toolsredmodbinredMod.exe. - If you already use WolvenKit, check its startup detection. It can provide an additional software-level indication.
- If the indicators remain absent or conflict, use the platform launcher’s install or repair controls. Follow the instructions shown for your platform; CD PROJEKT RED does not give one universal repair workflow for every launcher.
