In a December 1, 2025 report, GameSpot quoted IOI CEO Hakan Abrak saying, “Of course, there will be more Hitman,” and that “there’s going to be a next Hitman.” The comments establish a future entry, not its name or release plans.
What IO Interactive confirmed
Abrak’s reported comments confirm that IO Interactive intends to continue the Hitman franchise. GameSpot attributed the remarks to an interview with Variety; Abrak said, “Of course, there will be more Hitman,” and “because, of course, there’s going to be a next Hitman.” GameSpot’s December 1, 2025 report is the source for those quotations.
That is a confirmation of another game, not an official announcement of Hitman 4 as its title. The comments reported by GameSpot do not name the game or announce its release date, platforms, story, or gameplay.
Why “Hitman 4” is not established
The franchise’s current game is HITMAN World of Assassination, the name used for Hitman 3 after its 2023 rebranding, as GameSpot notes. A planned co-op mode for World of Assassination is separate from the next standalone game; the co-op update is not an announcement that the sequel will be called Hitman 4.

The official IO Interactive press room showed recent Hitman updates through August 25, 2026, but the inspected material did not announce a numbered sequel or give a title or schedule for the next game.
When could the next Hitman be released?
No release date or window is established by the available announcements. Abrak’s reported sequence was that IOI would share more about co-op for HITMAN World of Assassination before discussing the next Hitman game. That order does not provide a timetable for either the sequel’s announcement or release.

Is 007 First Light connected to Hitman’s release plans?
No. IOI separately announced 007 First Light as a standalone, original James Bond origin story combining the studio’s stealth and action mechanics with the Bond setting. It is a distinct project and does not establish when the next Hitman will arrive. IO Interactive’s June 4, 2025 announcement describes that project.
