Confirm that your exact wheel works with your console and that the game supports that wheel, then connect it using the manufacturer’s instructions and check the game’s control or calibration settings.
Check compatibility before connecting the wheel
Confirm the exact console and wheel model
Check the platform markings on the wheel’s packaging and the manufacturer’s support page. Do not assume that a wheel works just because it has USB. Microsoft’s [Xbox Wire statement] says officially licensed Xbox One accessories that connect wired or wirelessly via USB work on Xbox Series X. That statement has a specific scope; verify your wheel’s model and platform support rather than applying it to every accessory.
For example, Logitech lists the G920 Driving Force Racing Wheel for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. That makes it a model-specific example, not proof that every wheel or every game is supported.
Check whether your game supports the wheel
Console compatibility and game compatibility are separate. Logitech says the G920 requires a game that supports Logitech force-feedback racing wheels. Its G923, G29 and G920 game compatibility list is a useful starting point; also check the game’s own control settings. Wheel support and available features can differ by title.

Connect and set up the wheel
- Follow the manual for your exact model. Logitech specifies a corded USB connection for the G920. Use the wheel’s instructions for power, pedals, shifter, mounting and console connection; there is no single connection sequence established for every Xbox wheel.
- Start a supported game. Open its controller, steering or calibration settings and check whether it recognizes the wheel. Do not look for a universal Xbox wheel installation wizard.
- Configure the controls in the game. Use the title’s available steering and control options. Check the game’s support information if the wheel is recognized but pedals, force feedback or other features do not work as expected.
Troubleshoot a wheel the game or console does not recognize
First recheck the exact model’s console compatibility, the game’s wheel support, and the manufacturer’s connection instructions. If you have a Logitech G920 on Xbox One, Logitech provides a model- and console-specific reconnect procedure in its G920 Xbox One troubleshooting guide:
- Unplug the wheel’s USB cable.
- Hold the LSB, View and Xbox buttons.
- Reconnect the USB cable while continuing to hold the buttons.
- Release them when wheel calibration begins.
- Check the D-pad on the Xbox One home screen.
This procedure is for the G920 connected to Xbox One; do not treat it as a universal reset method for other wheels or Xbox Series X|S. For another model or console, use that manufacturer’s troubleshooting steps.

What to compare if you need a different wheel
If your current wheel is unsupported, compare alternatives against the exact console and games you use. The Logitech G920 is one example listed for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, with USB connection; it is not a universal recommendation, and its game support still depends on the title.
- Exact console generation support and Xbox licensing.
- Compatibility with each game you plan to play.
- Connection and power requirements.
- Included pedals or other controls, and whether your games support them.
Why a game’s Xbox compatibility does not guarantee wheel features
Microsoft’s XR-130: Xbox Console Families and Generations policy, version 2.0 dated November 1, 2025, says titles targeting a console generation must support that generation’s device family. It also says Xbox One games without Smart Delivery run on Xbox Series X|S in compatibility mode by default. This is platform policy, not certification that a particular wheel or its game-specific features will work in every title.
