How Do I Find My Xbox Code? Find or Redeem a Gift Card or Download Code

If you already have an Xbox gift card or download code, redeem it while signed in to the Microsoft account that should receive its value or content. If you’re trying to find a game you bought digitally, check that account’s Order history instead: the game may be available to install without a separate code. These are different situations, and a Windows product key is not an Xbox code.

First, work out which kind of Xbox code you mean

• A gift card, download code, or token you already have: redeem it through Microsoft while signed in to the intended account. Microsoft’s instructions cover Microsoft and Xbox gift cards, Xbox download codes, and tokens: Microsoft: Redeem a gift card or code.
• A digital game you purchased: look for the order in the Microsoft account used to buy it; a separate product key may not be provided.
• A boxed product: check any included card and the packaging. Some software keys are supplied this way, but not every Xbox game package contains a code.
• A Windows activation key: this is a separate product category. Use Microsoft’s Windows activation guidance rather than treating it as an Xbox gift or download code.

Redeem a code you already have

1. Open Microsoft’s gift card and code redemption page.
2. Sign in to the Microsoft account linked to the Xbox profile that should receive the funds or content. Check the account before redeeming; Microsoft warns that redemption is tied to the signed-in account: Xbox Support: Redeem a prepaid code.
3. Choose Redeem code, then enter or paste the code or token value and follow the prompts.

Microsoft’s directions refer to gift cards, download codes, and tokens; they do not establish that every Xbox code has the same character count. Don’t assume a code must be 25 characters simply because the question uses that description.

Find a digital game you bought from Microsoft

1. Sign in to the Microsoft account used for the purchase.
2. Open Microsoft Order history and downloads guidance and locate the Xbox game order.
3. Use the available install or download option. Some items show Install rather than a separate key, so the absence of a visible code does not by itself mean the purchase is missing.

Check a boxed purchase carefully

For boxed software, Microsoft says a key may be on an included card or on the back of the box. Check the packaging and inserts if they came with your purchase. This guidance applies to some software keys; it is not a promise that every physical Xbox game includes a redeemable code. If the code is missing or will not redeem

• You bought the wrong code: contact the retailer that sold it. Microsoft’s guidance directs customers to the retailer for an incorrectly purchased code.
• You have a code but redemption fails: follow Microsoft’s code redemption troubleshooting steps.
• You bought a digital game but cannot find a code: check Order history under the purchasing account and look for an install option rather than expecting a key.
• You need a new gift card: buying one provides a new code; it does not recover a code that has been lost.
