You can migrate an eligible GTA Online profile from PS4 or Xbox One to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, or from GTAV Legacy to GTAV Enhanced on PC. You cannot migrate between PlayStation and Xbox console families, or between console and PC. Start the process in GTA Online on the destination platform.
Check whether your platforms support migration

Rockstar’s character-transfer guidance covers the broad platform restrictions. Its console migration instructions and PC migration instructions explain the supported moves.
How to migrate a console profile
- Sign in to Rockstar Games on your PS5 or Xbox Series X|S using the account associated with the source profile.
- Open GTA Online on the destination console. On the Landing Page, choose the profile migration prompt.
- If you have already passed the prompt, open the Pause Menu and select Online > Migrate Profile.
- Select the source profile shown and confirm the migration. Review the character choice before proceeding; choosing to continue with a new character can overwrite the existing character slot.
How to migrate a PC profile from Legacy to Enhanced
- Launch GTAV Enhanced on PC and sign in with the Rockstar Games account linked to your GTAV Legacy profile.
- Start migration from the Landing Page. If you have already played Enhanced, use the Pause Menu and select Online > Migrate Profile.
- Select the Legacy profile and confirm. Take care when choosing a new character, because starting one can overwrite the existing character slot.
- Wait for migration to process. Rockstar says timing varies with character and service load; an alert may tell you it is safe to leave the migration screen while processing continues.
What changes after migration
- Your old profile remains, but the versions become separate. On console, the profile remains on PS4 or Xbox One, but progress made on the old and new console generations does not sync. The same applies to GTAV Legacy and Enhanced on PC.
- Purchased GTA$ may not all transfer. For a move between PlayStation and Xbox console families, unspent purchased GTA$ are not eligible to transfer.
- Starter Pack access has a prerequisite. On PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack benefits can only be accessed through a migrated character that had access to those benefits on PS4 or Xbox One.
- Eligibility is not automatic. Rockstar lists suspensions or bans, illegitimate progress, and insufficient progress as possible reasons a profile may not qualify. Its support pages do not publish a complete progress-threshold checklist.
If the migration option is missing or your profile is rejected
- Confirm that your source and destination appear in the supported-platform table above.
- Check whether the profile may be affected by a suspension or ban, illegitimate progress, or insufficient progress.
- Use the migration article for your destination platform and contact Rockstar Support if the profile still cannot migrate.
Do not unlink and relink console accounts as a routine troubleshooting step. Rockstar’s migration instructions do not prescribe it, and its separate account guidance warns that changing the linked console account can affect access to console character progress.
