To beat Asriel in Undertale, survive the opening with the special ACT options, choose Struggle in the next phase, then use SAVE on each Lost Soul and finally on Asriel. Ordinary attacks are not the solution. Spoilers: this guide covers the True Pacifist route’s final boss and how the encounter resolves.
How the Asriel fight works
Asriel is the final boss of the True Pacifist route. The encounter progresses through specific actions rather than a conventional damage-based boss strategy. The battle reference describes FIGHT attempts in the opening phase as misses; focus on the available ACT choices and staying alive. Undertale Wiki: Asriel Dreemurr

What to do in each phase
Opening phase: use Hope and Dream
Use the special ACT options, Hope and Dream, while surviving Asriel’s attacks. Hope is defensive, while Dream restores health and provides Last Dreams, according to the battle reference. Exact healing amounts are not needed to progress and can vary across secondary descriptions, so follow the action labels shown in your game.
Next phase: choose Struggle
When the fight advances to Asriel’s later form, use Struggle. Continue through this phase with that action rather than looking for a standard attack strategy.

Final phase: SAVE the Lost Souls, then Asriel
When ACT changes to SAVE, use it on the Lost Souls in turn: Undyne, Alphys, Papyrus, Sans, Toriel, and Asgore. After saving them, choose SAVE on Asriel to resolve the encounter.

The Asriel encounter follows the True Pacifist route, after the events around the barrier. If you have reached a Neutral ending instead, or missed route prerequisites, you will not reach this fight. The route requires avoiding kills and EXP and completing the relevant progression and character-bonding steps. Undertale Wiki: True Pacifist Route
