The setting depends on the game and, often, your input device. In Apex Legends, aim assist is enabled automatically for PC controller players but is not available to mouse-and-keyboard players. Fortnite lets controller players adjust aim assist in its settings.
Before you change settings, check your game and input
Aim assist is controlled by individual games, not by Windows. First confirm which game you are playing and whether you are using a controller or mouse and keyboard. The steps below apply to Fortnite and Apex Legends; they are not universal PC instructions.
If you plan to use a controller, confirm that your game supports it. Steam notes that controller support varies by game: Steam’s Big Picture mode.
Set up aim assist in Fortnite
Epic’s current support instructions place the aim-assist control in the controller settings. Follow this path:

Understand aim assist in Apex Legends
On PC, Apex Legends provides aim assist to controller players automatically; mouse-and-keyboard players do not get it. Electronic Arts states: “Aim assist is automatically turned on for all console players and PC players using controllers.” The setting is called Target Compensation.

Sensitivity, response curve, and deadzone affect how controller movement feels; they are not general-purpose switches for enabling aim assist. In Apex Legends, EA describes sensitivity, ADS sensitivity, response curve, and look deadzone as controller adjustments. A larger look deadzone can help prevent view drift, while a smaller deadzone allows more aim control. Increase it only as needed if drift is an issue. See EA’s Apex Legends PC accessibility features.
