Bungie has not published a complete October checklist of what carried over, so the detailed list from the earlier Season 1-to-2 reset should not be treated as current.
What did the October 6, 2026 Marathon wipe reset?
Bungie’s October 6 Nightfall Refresh update says the refresh reset progression and the in-game economy. It specifically names these effects:
- Credits and equipment: Bungie says they were used to pay players’ outstanding balance.
- Cradle enhancements: returned to default.
- Faction aftermarket upgrades: returned to default.
The Marathon Dev Team summed up the change: “In other words, you have been reset.” That statement follows the post’s explanation of the named losses and defaults; it is not an itemized list of every account change.
What do players keep after the October reset?
Bungie’s October 6 post does not give a complete list of retained items, account balances, cosmetics, titles, or progression. It therefore does not establish which individual items or balances survived beyond the categories it names. In particular, the older Season 2 support checklist cannot fill that gap: it documents a different reset.

Why older Marathon wipe lists may not apply
Bungie’s Season 2 Reset Guide described the earlier Season 1-to-2 transition. That guide said credits and other currencies reset, with LUX and SILK as exceptions, and that inventory and Vault items reset. It also listed carryovers such as earned cosmetics and titles, faction unlocks, initial Priority Contract completion, Codex challenge progress subject to listed exceptions, Rewards Pass progress, and Cryo Archive Subroutines progress. Those specifics apply to the earlier transition, not automatically to the October 2026 Nightfall Refresh.

Why did Bungie wipe progression?
In a September 14, 2026 development update, Bungie said Season 2 progression and reward issues had accelerated some players into the endgame while leaving others behind. The studio presented the October reset as a fresh start intended to support a healthier progression experience.

The October post describes the design aims as returning everyone to a common start line, refreshing the economy, making the battlefield feel more balanced, and allowing rewards to be earned again. These are Bungie’s stated goals, not evidence on their own that the reset achieved them.

Bungie said it is moving away from a strict seasonal schedule to allow more time to build, test, and improve features. The Marathon Dev Team put it this way on September 14: “We’re also moving away from a strict seasonal schedule.”
The October 6 update described the December Symbiosis update as planned to bring permanent PvE, an expanded Perimeter, a new Runner shell, onboarding improvements, a social space, and a firing range. It also outlined a further milestone for March. These are announced plans, not guaranteed dates or features; live-service roadmaps can change.
