To beat Lace at The Cradle, dodge her committed attacks, take only brief openings, and retreat before she can counter. The safest opening is her uppercut dive: move toward Lace as she dives to pass behind her, land one hit after she lands, then back away in case she shifts into a parry.
Which Lace fight is this?
This is Lace’s Act 2 rematch at the summit of The Cradle, not her earlier duel in Deep Docks. The Cradle fight blocks the route to Grand Mother Silk. The Silksong Wiki describes the encounter and its progression; the tactical advice below is also covered by GameSpot’s Lace guide and Into Indie Games’ walkthrough.
Use a patient fight plan
- Stay clear of the ledges. Keep room to dodge in either direction. Falling can cost health, so do not evade blindly toward an edge.
- Let Lace finish her sequence. Her attacks come quickly and can have follow-ups. Avoid trading blows; wait until the sequence ends before trying to hit her.
- Keep punishments short. Take one safe hit, then disengage. A longer attack string can leave you exposed to her next move.
- Leave marked danger areas. Later attacks can target areas of the arena. Move out of the marked circles instead of trying to squeeze in another hit; return once the hazard is over.
Recognize her attacks and respond
Triple slash
Lace advances while slashing. Avoid or jump over the committed sequence, then take a brief opening if you are safely positioned. Do not assume the first clear moment means the whole exchange is over.
Dash and follow-up dash
A dash can be followed immediately by another as the fight progresses. Keep moving until Lace has finished the sequence, then punish briefly. Guides also describe a possible pogo opportunity after an attack sequence or against dash and multi-slash attacks, but it is optional; do not mash attacks to force it.

Uppercut and dive
When Lace rises and then dives diagonally toward Hornet, dodge toward her as she comes down so you pass behind her. Once she lands, take one hit and retreat immediately. This is a useful opening, but not a safe invitation to keep attacking: she may transition directly into a parry.
Parry stance
When Lace raises her weapon defensively, stop attacking from the front. Hitting into the stance triggers a slash counter. If you are caught by it, jump and retreat; if she counters upward, try to get behind her rather than pressing the attack.

Later area attacks
In later parts of the fight, guides describe attacks that mark areas of the arena with glowing circles. Leave the marked space promptly and wait for the attack to resolve before moving back in. The guides do not establish an exact phase threshold for this change, so react to the cue rather than relying on a phase count.
Healing and equipment
A faster healing option may let you heal during an animation, according to the walkthrough, but it does not identify a required item or build. You do not need a specific loadout to follow the core plan: survive each sequence, use a short opening, and reset your position.

After the fight
Defeating Lace advances the story beyond this encounter. The Silksong Wiki reports that the victory grants a Silk Heart that permanently increases Hornet’s silk reserve; treat that reward detail as fan-guide reporting rather than an official confirmation.
