Hollow Knight: Silksong has passed the six-million mark: Team Cherry said on Dec. 15, 2025, that more than seven million people had purchased the game. The developer also noted that millions more were playing through Xbox Game Pass, a separate figure that should not be added to the purchase total.
How many copies of Silksong has Team Cherry confirmed?
In a Dec. 15, 2025 update, Team Cherry’s Ari Gibson wrote: “That’s over seven million of you who’ve purchased the game, alongside millions more playing on Xbox Game Pass!” The statement makes the six-million headline an outdated milestone, not the latest official sales figure located. Team Cherry’s announcement gives a rounded threshold, not an exact total or the date on which sales crossed seven million.
This is the developer’s reported purchase count, not an analyst estimate. Team Cherry has not provided a platform-by-platform breakdown or a split between physical and digital sales in that update.
Are Game Pass players included in the sales figure?
No. Team Cherry distinguishes people who purchased the game from the “millions more” playing on Xbox Game Pass. The announcement does not give a precise Game Pass player count, so those players cannot be combined with the over-seven-million purchase figure to calculate a total audience.

When and where did Silksong release?
Steam’s listing identifies Team Cherry as the developer and publisher and gives Sept. 4, 2025, as the release date. Team Cherry lists the game for PC, Mac, Linux, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on its games page.
Steam describes Silksong as a single-player action-adventure starring Hornet in Pharloom. Its product description advertises crafted tools, more than 200 foes, more than 40 bosses, and Steel Soul mode; those are figures and features from the storefront description, not independent measurements.

What is coming next for Silksong?
Team Cherry announced Sea of Sorrow as the game’s first major expansion, planned to be free for all players in 2026. The developer says it will add new areas, bosses, tools, and more, but did not announce a precise release date in the Dec. 15, 2025 post. Its announcement says further details will arrive closer to release.
