Start by checking Blizzard’s notice to identify exactly what happened. For an Overwatch account suspension or ban, use Blizzard Support’s Overwatch appeal guidance and follow its current instructions. Competitive-only restrictions and login problems after a suspension expires have separate support paths. An appeal asks Blizzard to review the action; the available official guidance does not guarantee reinstatement or give a standard decision time.
1. Identify the restriction before taking action
Check the email address registered to your Blizzard account and any account notice. Note the stated penalty, its scope, and any end date or time. An error message by itself may not tell you whether the action applies to your whole account or only to Competitive Play.

- Temporary account suspension: Check the penalty notice and Blizzard’s suspension-duration guidance, listed in its suspension support results.
- Account ban or closure: Use Blizzard’s Overwatch account suspension or ban appeal route in those same support results.
- Competitive-only restriction: Follow Blizzard’s separate Competitive Play suspension or ban guidance; this is distinct from an account-wide action.
- Silence: Confirm that the notice identifies a silence, then use the relevant current guidance. Blizzard also lists general appeal information for silences, suspensions, and bans in its support results.
- Penalty appears to have ended, but you still cannot log in: Use Blizzard’s specific “Can’t Log In After Suspension Ended” troubleshooting guidance, listed in the suspension support results.
2. Appeal an Overwatch account suspension or ban
- Open Blizzard Support’s Overwatch suspension or ban appeal guidance and follow the current appeal flow.
- Explain clearly which action you are appealing. Provide the notice or case details the support flow requests, and keep the account and incident information factual.
- Submit one concise, relevant request and wait for Blizzard’s response. The current form fields and any penalty-specific eligibility limits should be taken from the live support flow; they are not established here.
3. If the restriction is Competitive-only or expired
Competitive Play restriction
Use Blizzard’s dedicated Competitive Play suspension or ban guidance, listed in its suspension support results. Do not treat a restriction on Competitive Play as proof that the entire Blizzard account is suspended.
Expired suspension with blocked login
If the notice’s end time has passed but login still fails, follow Blizzard’s “Can’t Log In After Suspension Ended” troubleshooting article from the suspension support results. This is the relevant route for a post-expiry access problem rather than assuming the original penalty has been overturned or extended.

What to expect from an appeal
An appeal is a request for review, not a promise that Blizzard will restore access. The official material reviewed does not establish a guaranteed outcome, a standard review time, a reversal rate, or an entitlement to receive specific evidence. Avoid relying on forum anecdotes as statements of Blizzard policy.
Blizzard’s Customer Support Interaction Policies say that repeated tickets or spam about an issue Support has already addressed are unproductive. Keep communication respectful and do not flood Support with duplicate requests.
