Redeem a Minecraft game or content code at Minecraft’s redemption page; redeem a Microsoft or Xbox gift card at Microsoft’s redeem-code page to add its value to your Microsoft account. The standard Minecraft code field is for 25-character codes. Minecraft directs 10-digit codes to a separate page.
Choose the right redemption route
“Microsoft Minecraft gift card” can mean different products, and the redemption destination depends on what the code buys—not just the brand on the card.

Redeem a Minecraft prepaid game or content code
- Find the code. On a physical card, it may be under a scratch-off panel. A digital purchase may put it in the retailer’s email or order details; a gift may arrive in a message from the giver.
- Open minecraft.net/en-us/redeem.
- Enter the 25-character code and sign in to the active Microsoft account that should receive the game or content.
- Review the product displayed on the page. If it is the item you expect, confirm redemption.
- Follow the confirmation page’s instructions to download or access the product. The next steps depend on what the card contains.
Redeem a Microsoft or Xbox balance card
If the card adds money to your Microsoft account rather than granting a specific Minecraft product, go to redeem.microsoft.com. Sign in to the account where you want the balance, enter or paste the code, and follow the on-screen prompts. Microsoft says redeemed value can be spent on eligible purchases through Microsoft Store online, Windows, or Xbox.
Check the product and code format first
Java & Bedrock Edition for PC
Minecraft’s redemption instructions say to use the code on the back of a Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition card or the code printed on the store receipt. Make sure you sign in to the Microsoft account that should own the game.

“My Minecraft redeem code is not working”: what to do
- Check the characters carefully. Look-alikes such as O and 0 or I and 1 are easy to confuse.
- Confirm you are signed in to the Microsoft account that should receive the item.
- Check whether the code has already been redeemed. Minecraft codes can be used only once.
- Confirm that the code format matches the page: standard Minecraft redemption uses a 25-character code; 10-digit Minecraft codes have a separate destination.
- If it still fails, contact Minecraft Support and provide proof of purchase. Older Java-only codes and some region-specific codes may have limits.
