Activision allows you to unlink an individual platform account from an Activision account once every 12 months. Its published instructions do not describe a general way to unlink sooner. If the option is available, use Account Linking; if it is blocked, contact Activision through its “I can’t unlink an account” support issue. Enforcement or suspicious activity can also prevent a request.
Can you unlink an account before the 12 months are up?
Activision’s Managing Your Activision Account page says: “You may unlink individual platform accounts from an Activision account once every 12 months.” It does not promise an early-unlink exception. The public instructions also do not show an account-specific eligibility date, so check the Account Linking page or ask Activision Support if you are unsure whether your account is eligible.
Even when the interval has passed, unlinking is not guaranteed: Activision says an account with active enforcement may be restricted, and it may deny a request if it detects suspicious login or unlinking attempts.
How to unlink a platform account
When self-service unlinking is available, follow Activision’s stated steps:

- Open ACCOUNT LINKING.
- Find the platform account you want to remove and select UNLINK.
- Check the confirmation box, then select CONTINUE.
Activision lists Xbox (including Game Pass and Microsoft Store), PlayStation, Steam, Blizzard, Nintendo, and Ubisoft as linkable providers. An Activision account may have only one account linked per provider.
What happens to game progress and content?
For games that support cross-progression, Activision says progression is stored on the Activision account, not the platform account. If you link a platform account to a different Activision account, your progress will not carry over to that new account. Activision says the progress and content are not lost: relink the platform account to the original Activision account to access them again.

What to do if unlinking is blocked or fails
The UNLINK option is unavailable or the request is denied
Use Activision Support’s Support Options and choose I can’t unlink an account. Support’s public guidance does not promise that it can override the 12-month interval. If active enforcement or suspicious activity is involved, the request may remain restricted.
You cannot access your account or suspect it was compromised
For suspected unauthorized access, follow Activision’s account security guidance: change your Activision password, unlink accounts, change the passwords for accounts you unlinked, and relink them to your Activision account. This is security advice for a compromised account, not a way to bypass the unlinking interval. If you cannot sign in, use Activision’s Hacked Account Recovery page for account recovery and management guidance.
