To manage future access, open the experience page, select Servers, use the three-dot menu beside your server, and choose Configure. If someone is already playing, disconnecting them requires a kick feature provided by the experience; Roblox’s developer API documents Player:Kick(message), but that is not automatically available to private-server owners.
How to manage who can join your private server
- Open the Roblox experience page for the game in question.
- Select Servers.
- Find your private server and open the three-dot menu beside it.
- Select Configure.
- Adjust who can play. Roblox’s private-server settings allow the owner to choose up to 50 individual users or allow the owner’s friends list. Review any access restriction setting shown for the server. Roblox Support explains private-server configuration.
These settings govern access to the server. Roblox’s support guidance does not say that removing someone from the allowed list immediately disconnects them if they are already in the live session, so don’t rely on an access-list change as a confirmed way to eject a current player.
What to do if the person is already playing
Roblox Creator Hub documents Player:Kick(message) as an experience API method that disconnects a client and can optionally show a message. It is a capability for the experience’s code, not a button granted to someone simply because they own a private server. The experience needs to provide an appropriate admin feature, or its server-side scripts must be controlled by someone able to use the API. See the Creator Hub reference for Player:Kick.
Roblox advises developers to let only specifically trusted users trigger a kick against other users. A LocalScript can only use this method to kick the local player’s own client; it does not provide a way to kick another player from that client.

Private-server settings and experience kicks are different

If a friend cannot join your private server
A blocked join is a separate issue from kicking someone. Roblox says that by default users under 13 can only join friends’ private servers, and only friends can join their own private servers; privacy settings may restrict access further. Someone who is not invited or added to the guest list may see Error 524. Check the server’s member list and whether Friends Allowed is enabled, as appropriate. Roblox’s Error 524 guidance lists access-related causes, and its privacy and content restrictions page describes privacy controls.
