Is a D&D 5e fairy Tiny or Small?
The playable fairy is Small. D&D Beyond’s official preview states: “Unlike your typical fairy creature, you won’t be Tiny. The fairy race is size Small.” The preview contrasts player-character fairies with Tiny pixies and sprites, so the familiar image of a very tiny fairy does not change the playable race’s size category.

What might a fairy look like?
The preview says most fairies resemble Small elves with insect-like wings, and that each has a distinctive physical characteristic. Its examples describe varied fairy-inspired appearances; they do not establish a height for any fairy character. A character’s particular appearance can be described at the table without changing the stated Small size category.
Where does the playable fairy option come from?
The fairy option appears in The Wild Beyond the Witchlight. Wizards of the Coast’s D&D Beyond Marketplace listing describes the adventure and playable fairy option and lists a physical format. The source for the Small size rule is the official preview above; the Marketplace listing is useful for finding the book, not for assigning a specific character height.
