The 171.15 GiB figure is the reported download total for all depots; 625.97 GiB is the corresponding reported on-disk total. Do not use the download number to estimate the space required after installation. Actual downloads and local storage can vary with selected DLC, updates, and the state of an existing installation.

What Steam’s 60 GB requirement means
Steam lists 60 GB of available space as ARK: Survival Evolved’s minimum Windows storage requirement. That requirement is not the all-maps installed footprint, so it should not be treated as the amount needed to install every depot. Is this ARK: Survival Ascended?
No. The figures above are for ARK: Survival Evolved (ASE). ARK: Survival Ascended (ASA) is a separate game; Steam Support lists a 180 GB storage requirement and says an SSD is required. That is a requirement for ASA, not an all-maps measurement for ASE: Steam Support’s ARK: Survival Ascended requirements.

How much storage should you plan for?
If you intend to install all Steam Windows depots, plan for more than the reported 625.97 GiB so the drive has room for other files and update needs. A 1 TB SSD is a plausible capacity to consider, but ASE’s cited minimum requirement does not establish that an SSD is necessary. The depot estimate does not establish sizes for console versions or other storefronts.
