If you treat that outcome as an epilogue, the count is four endings plus one epilogue. The five outcomes are Weaver Queen, Twisted Child, Snared Silk, Sister of the Void, and Passing of the Age.
Why guides give different ending counts
Nintendo Life counts all five named outcomes as endings. PC Gamer calls four of them endings and separates Passing of the Age as an epilogue. The difference is a matter of classification: both guides identify the same five outcomes. No official Team Cherry count defining the categories is established by those sources.
The Steam listing describes the game as having multiple endings, but does not provide a number: Hollow Knight: Silksong on Steam.
All five Silksong ending outcomes
The conditions below are broad route summaries, not a full quest walkthrough. The endings are grouped by when they occur so you can see which Act 2 outcomes are distinct from the Act 3 conclusions.

How to get each outcome
Weaver Queen
Take the ordinary Act 2 route: defeat Grand Mother Silk and bind her. That choice produces Weaver Queen.
Twisted Child
Hornet must still have the Twisted Bud curse when she fights Grand Mother Silk in Act 2. PC Gamer describes finding the bud, completing the Rite of the Pollip quest for Greyroot, and taking the bud to her. If you remove the curse using Infestation Operation, this route is no longer available. Nintendo Life notes that completing the Snared Silk route first can also close off the opportunity, so pursue this outcome before progressing past that point.

Snared Silk and access to Act 3
First unlock and complete the Silk and Soul quest, then defeat Grand Mother Silk and play the Needolin rather than binding her. PC Gamer’s Act 3 guide describes the broad prerequisites as completing most Wish Wall quests for Bone Bottom, Bellhart, and Songclave; moving the Flea Caravan to its final location; collecting the Architect, Conductor, and Vaultkeeper melodies; and gaining access to Grand Mother Silk.
You do not need to complete every quest, find every flea, finish every town quest, or defeat the final boss before acquiring Silk and Soul, according to PC Gamer’s corrections. The key is completing Silk and Soul before choosing the Needolin at the boss encounter.

Sister of the Void
Reach Act 3, access the Abyss, and defeat Lost Lace. PC Gamer describes reaching the Abyss through The Dark Below and The Old Hearts quests; Nintendo Life says to collect three Old Hearts to pierce through the Void.
Passing of the Age
Complete the Act 3 Passing of the Age quest. Nintendo Life summarizes the requirement as completing the Wish and defeating the final boss. PC Gamer says the epilogue follows the Act 3 ending after completing the quest and finding Mister Mushroom in all seven locations. The guides’ differing labels for this outcome account for the five-versus-four count.

Is there a sixth ending?
Do not treat a possible Steel Soul-linked outcome as confirmed. PC Gamer says whether it leads to another ending remains unclear, and the sources do not establish a sixth named outcome.
