EA publishes a 0.045% Heirloom Shard chance per pack and a guarantee after 500 qualifying packs for eligible accounts. The actual cash outlay depends on your region, platform, coin bundles, account progress, and any event offers.
How much does an Apex Heirloom cost?
EA does not publish one universal cash price for an Heirloom. The standard-pack calculation is 50,000 Apex Coins for 500 packs at 100 coins per standard Rare Apex Pack. That is the listed coin ceiling for a fresh guarantee counter if every qualifying pack is purchased at the standard rate—not a fixed dollar quote or the amount every player must spend. EA’s coin store lists coin bundle quantities, but the official page reviewed does not provide a readable current cash price; EA also notes that purchase methods and pricing can vary by location. EA’s FAQ and coin store are the relevant official references.
Your personal outlay may be lower if you already have Apex Coins, have opened qualifying packs, or earned packs and coins through gameplay or the Battle Pass. To calculate a precise cash total, you would need your current pack-counter progress and the coin-bundle prices shown by your platform or regional store at checkout.
What the 500-pack guarantee actually means
EA says the chance of receiving Heirloom Shards from an Apex Pack is 0.045% per pack. This is EA’s published figure, not a prediction of when a particular player will receive shards. EA also says an eligible player cannot open more than 500 qualifying packs without receiving shards, subject to account conditions. The guarantee does not mean that each player needs 500 packs: shards can drop earlier.

The guarantee is conditional. EA’s FAQ states that the 500-pack protection applies provided the player does not own all available Base Mythic cosmetics and does not already have enough shards for an unowned eligible Base Mythic item. It also excludes certain pack types, so a purchase should not be assumed to advance the counter just because it is called an Apex Pack.
Which packs count?
EA excludes Collection Event Packs, Thematic Event Packs, Milestone Event Packs, Collection Retro Packs, and certain packs that replace items a player already owns. Check the current FAQ and the in-game pack description before relying on a pack to move the counter. EA’s pack and Heirloom FAQ

Why your cost may be lower than 50,000 coins
- Previously opened packs: qualifying packs already opened count toward the 500-pack limit.
- Earned packs: EA says packs can come from leveling and the Battle Pass as well as purchases.
- Earned Apex Coins: some Battle Pass rewards include Apex Coins that can offset purchases.
- Existing currency or bonuses: coins already in your account and any bundle bonuses affect how much cash you need to spend.
EA’s currency guide explains the available ways to obtain packs and coins. The 50,000-coin figure is therefore a maximum listed coin calculation for a fresh counter under the stated assumptions, not a typical-cost estimate.

Can you buy an Heirloom directly?
There is no one permanent cash price for every Heirloom. With enough Heirloom Shards, you can choose an eligible Mythic cosmetic in the Mythic shop. Collection events may offer a separate path to a featured Heirloom or shards, but each event sets its own collection and reward rules.

For example, EA’s 2021 Anniversary Collection Event awarded 150 Heirloom Shards for completing its 24-item collection. That is a historical event example, not a current price or a template for every collection event. EA’s 2021 event announcement
How to estimate your own cash cost
- Check your account’s qualifying-pack progress, if known, and subtract those packs from 500. Do not count pack types EA excludes.
- Multiply the remaining qualifying packs by 100 Apex Coins to estimate the standard-pack coin requirement. For a fresh counter, the calculation is 500 × 100 = 50,000 coins.
- Subtract Apex Coins you already hold and coins you expect to earn, and account for packs earned through leveling or the Battle Pass.
- Check the coin bundle prices at checkout in your region and platform store. The cash total depends on available bundle sizes and any displayed bonus coins.
- Compare that route with any current collection event’s own terms; do not assume its pack price or reward advances the 500-pack guarantee.
Because regional checkout prices, bundles, event terms, and account progress differ, a reliable dollar estimate requires those details. The official figures establish the coin arithmetic and guarantee conditions, not a universal real-money total.

Don’t confuse Heirlooms with Apex Artifacts
Apex Artifacts are a separate category of customizable universal melee cosmetics, usable by all Legends. EA says the base Artifact can be acquired with Heirloom Shards or through an event, while customization uses Exotic Shards.
