You can teleport to the classic Far Lands only in a compatible historical Java Edition world: they were present from Infdev 2010-03-27 through Beta 1.7.3 and were removed in Beta 1.8. In that old terrain generation, the boundary begins roughly 12,550,821 blocks from the origin along the X or Z axis. Teleporting to the same coordinates in a current Java world does not restore the classic Far Lands.
What version do you need?
The classic Far Lands were a Java Edition terrain-generation effect in versions from Infdev 2010-03-27 through Beta 1.7.3. They were removed in Beta 1.8, so the key requirement is loading a world in a version that actually generates them—not simply entering a large coordinate. The Minecraft Wiki’s tutorial is marked outdated, so treat its historical procedure as guidance rather than tested instructions for a current installation. Minecraft Wiki: Far Lands tutorial
Teleport to the Far Lands in historical Java beta multiplayer
The tutorial describes teleporting in beta multiplayer, where the command was available. The Far Lands begin at about 12,550,821 blocks on the X and Z axes; the example coordinates below approach the edge and corner rather than guaranteeing an exact landing on the terrain boundary.
- Use a Java world running a version with the classic Far Lands, no later than Beta 1.7.3. Back up the world before changing versions or experimenting.
- In multiplayer, enter one of the tutorial’s commands:
/tp @p 12550800 130 0approaches the Far Lands along the positive X axis./tp @p 12550800 130 12550800approaches the corner where the positive X and Z axes meet.
- For an approach on the negative side, use a negative coordinate as appropriate. The tutorial notes that its Y value of 130 places the player above ordinary terrain; arrange flight or protection from falling before teleporting.
Single-player commands were unavailable in the relevant old versions according to the tutorial. Its command examples are for the historical beta multiplayer route, not current Java command behavior.

Can you do this in current Bedrock or Java?
Microsoft documents /teleport, also known as /tp, for moving entities to coordinates in Bedrock Edition. Its example for teleporting yourself is /teleport @s 100 64 200; the optional checkForBlocks argument can prevent a teleport when blocks occupy the destination. This confirms Bedrock command syntax, not that a current Bedrock release generates the classic Java Far Lands. Microsoft Learn: Introduction to Commands Microsoft Learn: teleport command
Likewise, teleporting to a Far Lands-era coordinate in current Java does not produce the removed classic terrain effect. The available sources do not establish whether current Bedrock has a comparable Far Lands effect, so a large-coordinate teleport should not be presented as a way to reach one.

Other historical methods and their risks
The tutorial also describes editing the player position in level.dat or using an external world editor. These are save-manipulation methods, not ordinary in-game teleport commands. It mentions teleporting in a newer Java version and then opening the save in Beta 1.7.3; because that procedure involves changing versions and the tutorial is outdated, save incompatibility is a concern. Keep an untouched backup and do not rely on the method to work safely.
- Lag and crashes: the tutorial warns that Far Lands terrain can cause severe lag and may crash the game.
- Falling: the example uses Y=130, leaving the player above typical terrain; falling protection or flight may be needed.
- World damage: back up the world before trying commands, save edits, or version changes.
The tutorial suggests teleporting a few hundred blocks away from the Far Lands to reduce the immediate lag impact, rather than landing directly at the most problematic terrain.
