The Rise of Midas quests were a limited-time Fortnite Battle Royale event in Chapter 5, Season 2. They ended on April 2, 2024, at 9 AM ET, so they are no longer available. This historical walkthrough covers all five phases, their objectives, and the reward thresholds.
How the Rise of Midas quests worked
Epic announced the event on March 19, 2024, describing it as a chance to “help Midas flee the Island with special Quests.” The five phases unlocked in sequence from March 19 through March 28, and remained available until April 2 at 9 AM ET. The quests followed Midas’s escape from The Underworld and the crew’s effort to get him aboard the yacht The Marigold. Epic’s v29.01 event announcement has the original dates and reward details.
At the time, players could launch a Fortnite experience, open Quests from the lobby, and play to complete its listed objectives. Quests and rewards can differ by Fortnite experience; Epic’s quest instructions explain the general process. Map locations, items, and mechanics below refer specifically to Chapter 5, Season 2.
Phase 1: Midas Rises
Each objective in this phase was listed for 10,000 XP in the March 2024 guides. The Chains of Hades were Chapter 5, Season 2 loot: Epic said they could be found as floor loot or in chests, or obtained by defeating Hades.

- Collect 200 Bars.
- Investigate Midas’ jail cell.
- Corroborate with Marigold on Midas’ escape.
- Hit an Olympian boss four times with Chains of Hades.
- Deal 750 damage to players with Chains of Hades or a Harbinger SMG.
Find the jail cell and question Marigold
For the jail-cell objective, go to The Underworld and find the room where Hades is located. The cell was at the bottom of that room; follow the quest marker to the interaction point. To corroborate Midas’ escape, use a Scrying Pool and select the dialogue explaining what happened: a guard unshackled one hand, Midas turned the other shackle to gold, and he pushed the cell door open.
Phase 2: Et Tu, Brutus?
The first three objectives were each listed for 10,000 XP in the guides. The Marigold was a yacht off the island’s coast during this event.

- Make three purchases from Midas Vending Machines or Service Stations.
- Scan The Marigold for recording devices.
- Confront Brutus.
Hire specialists and make purchases
Hire a specialist, then repeat the action in two other matches; completing all three hires in one match does not satisfy the separate-match requirement. For the purchase objective, spend Gold Bars on an item or service at the relevant Midas Vending Machines or Service Stations. These machines and their locations were specific to the 2024 map.
Scan the yacht and confront Brutus
Land on The Marigold and look in its lower section near the vault for the recording device, then interact with it to scan. To confront Brutus, use a Scrying Pool and select Brutus from the character menu.

Phase 3: Jules vs. the Golden Touch
The March 25 guide listed 10,000 XP each for dealing damage under River Styx effects, modding three weapons, and eliminating five players with fully modded weapons.
- Deal 300 damage while under the effects of the River Styx.
- Hit structures at Grim Gate to collect a Jar of Essence.
- Deliver the Jar of Essence to Jules.
- Mod three weapons.
- Eliminate five players with fully modded weapons.
Collect and deliver the Jar of Essence
The green River Styx water ran through the Underworld and Grim Gate area. Touch it to gain a temporary movement effect, then deal damage while that effect is active. At Grim Gate, hit structures with your pickaxe until the Jar of Essence appears. Deliver it to Jules in the workshop or gas-station area shown on the historical map; guides differed on the precise landmark.

Mod weapons and get eliminations
Mod Benches were found in vaults or bunkers. Use a bench to modify three weapons, then eliminate five players with weapons that are fully modified. Bunkers opened during matches, so access depended on that season’s map and unlock mechanics.

The recorded objectives for this phase were:
- Deal 750 damage with Midas’ Drum Gun or Drum Guns.
- Place in the top 50 without consuming healing items.
- Eliminate an opponent within 10 seconds of collecting Bars.
- Consume a Banana of the Gods.
The 2024 guide suggested Midas Vending Machines as one way to get a Drum Gun and described Banana of the Gods as a special consumable. Their availability and locations applied to Chapter 5, Season 2, not the current loot pool.

Phase 5: The Great Marigold Yacht Heist
The final phase had five objectives. Its last objective offered two alternative ways to complete it: finish a Train Heist or claim the floating-island Capture Point.
- Blow up a fuel pump.
- Catch a Golden Chicken.
- Honk a car horn within 10 meters of an enemy player.
- Travel 1,000 meters while flying with Wings of Icarus.
- Complete a Train Heist or claim the floating-island Capture Point.
Choose either final objective route
For the Train Heist route, interact with the train’s chest to start the heist and stay nearby until its progress bar completes. Alternatively, claim the Capture Point on the floating island. These were event-era objectives and map mechanics.
What were the Rise of Midas rewards?
Epic’s 2024 reward thresholds were based on the total number of completed event quests:

These were in-game cosmetics earned through quest completion. The event has ended; current shop availability for these items is not established.
