To complete Alice’s Sorrow, speak to Alice beside the Guardian Tree in Mourningvale, find the stories of her four children—Deimos, Freddy, Ann, and Edith—and then return to Alice and select Report Findings. The quest is part of The Sims 4: Life & Death and unlocks useful interactions with the Guardian Tree.
Start Alice’s Sorrow at the Guardian Tree
Travel to Mourningvale in Ravenwood and find Alice, a blue ghost who stays near the Guardian Tree. Select her and choose Ask about Alice’s Sorrow. The quest objectives appear in the Career tab. The tree is northeast of the Eternal Haunt nightclub, a useful landmark when navigating the neighborhood.
Find the stories of Alice’s four children
Deimos: explore a crypt
Use a crypt entrance in Ravenwood and choose the quest-marked underground exploration interaction. When your Sim finds a stone tablet named for Deimos, select Read the Stone Tablet. This reveals his story.
Freddy: visit the Crow’s Crossing playground
Travel to the playground in the central area of Crow’s Crossing and look among the small specters for Freddy. He is a small blue specter, identifiable by his mustache and bowtie. Select Ask about Alice’s Sorrow to hear his memories of Alice.

- Wonder at treasures that have endured time’s passing, witnessing the comeand go of generations with ghastly grace.
- Build your Bucket List by collecting goals throughout your Sim’s life, startingas a Young Adult. Items will appear on your list based on your Sim’s traits andfamily relations, and you can also choose your own.
- Make death your life’s work with a career of reaping souls, helping Ghosts,dispersing hauntings, and more as a member of Grim’s team. Or, you couldbecome a Mortician and deal with death more from the perspective of theliving.
- The veil between life and death is thin in Ravenwood. Visit the countryside and perhaps take a swim by the mysterious face in the cliffs. Or, head into the village where you’ll find some odd goods forpurchase near the old Specter cemetery.
Ann: read her gravestone in Whispering Glen
Go to Whispering Glen and follow the river to the small island. Interact with the lone gravestone and select Read Epitaph to learn Ann’s story.
Edith: keep trying at the well
Return to Crow’s Crossing and find the Well of Longing and Regret. Edith may not respond at first. Select Attempt to Communicate repeatedly until she responds, then choose Ask about Alice’s Sorrow. If she keeps rejecting your Sim, leave the area and return later before trying again.

Report your findings to Alice
Once you have learned all four stories, return to Alice near the Guardian Tree in Mourningvale. Select Report Findings to finish the quest.

- Scavenge: search the tree for collectibles.
- Refill Needs: restore needs for ghost Sims.
- Use Intuition: this can provide the Justice and The Star tarot cards if your Sim has started the tarot collection.
What you need to play
Alice’s quest is included in The Sims 4: Life & Death, the expansion set in Ravenwood. EA’s announcement describes the quest as helping the Ghost Mother find her missing children: EA’s Life & Death announcement. On Steam, the expansion is downloadable content and requires The Sims 4 base game; storefront entitlements can vary by platform: Steam listing.
