In Mage Arena, the documented way to use more spell types is to choose four spells from the game’s pool of eight for your spellbook. The developer’s March 30, 2026 update names pixie dust, polymorph, sticky tongue, and dragons breath as additions to that pool. That expands the options you can select; it does not establish that you can carry more than four spells at once.
Choose spells for your spellbook
Open the game’s spell selection interface and choose the available spells for your book. The Mage Arena developer’s March 30, 2026 Steam update says players can choose four spells from a pool of eight. It does not give a specific menu path, so the exact controls may depend on the current game build.
The update identifies these four additions to the pool:

The eight-spell pool means more options to choose from, not a larger four-spell loadout. The update does not confirm that every player or build displays an identical pool.

Spell pages are separate from spellbook selection
In an August 31, 2025 Steam update, the developer announced two new spell pages: DOOM and Bubble. These are described as pages, not as additions to the number of spells a player can select for the book. A community-maintained Mage Arena spell reference likewise distinguishes pages from spellbook selection and says pages cannot be added to the spellbook.

The available information does not establish where DOOM or Bubble pages appear, how frequently they appear, or whether a page’s effect persists after death or between matches. Do not assume finding a page permanently unlocks a spell or increases your book’s capacity.
Does Mage Arena require a microphone?
The game is voice-controlled, so you need working voice input to use its voice commands. The official Steam listing describes the game as voice-controlled, but does not say that a new microphone or a particular microphone specification is required.

The developer’s August 31, 2025 version 0.8 DOOM update also capped late-game spell-page cooldown reduction at 50 percent. That is a balance change reported for that update; it should not be treated as a guarantee about cooldown behavior in later builds.
