To complete Thoughtful Pursuits, escort Maru through three clue locations using the Tricked-Out Thinking Cap’s coordinate tracker, then return to Benatauk. The destinations are the balloon area, the rear of the Fashion Frenzy stage, and the pet corner near Taivan.
How to complete Thoughtful Pursuits
- Pick up the quest from Benatauk. It follows the Guest Relations tutorial quest Tweasure Hunt, according to Siliconera’s October 28, 2024 walkthrough.
- Use the clue book and coordinate tracker. The Tricked-Out Thinking Cap adds an extra action button that resets the coordinates to (0, 0). Reset the tracker before following each new relative-coordinate clue, as described in the Warcraft Wiki quest reference.
- Find the ocular lenses at the balloon area near balloonist Isaandrae: 64.20, 50.08.
- Find the thought-calculating apparatus behind the Fashion Frenzy stage: 63.42, 48.51.
- Find the downy helmet liner at the pet corner near Taivan: 61.53, 49.95.
- Return to Benatauk and turn in the quest.
The three coordinates and item names come from Siliconera’s walkthrough. The Warcraft Wiki quest entry says the objectives complete automatically when you reach each spot; it does not describe interacting with separate objects or NPCs there.
Where the quest fits in Guest Relations
Thoughtful Pursuits is part of the Guest Relations tutorial for World of Warcraft’s 20th Anniversary event. Siliconera’s October 2024 walkthrough places it after Tweasure Hunt and before A Whiff of Help.
The walkthrough reflects the 2024 anniversary event. Whether the quest can be started in the live game on October 8, 2026 is not established here. Check Benatauk in game or a current official event notice before relying on its present availability.

If quest progress does not update
First confirm that you reset the Thinking Cap tracker between clues and reached all three destinations. The Warcraft Wiki reference describes proximity as sufficient to complete each objective.
A November 2024 post on the official World of Warcraft forums described a player whose progress bar remained at 66% after finding the third part. The player also reported that abandoning and restarting the quest affected the clue-book item, and other players described similar tracking problems. This is a historical player report, not confirmation of a current widespread bug or an official fix. Avoid abandoning the quest casually, especially if you still need its clue book.
