Choose the second weapon for your role
Greatsword is a slow, hard-hitting melee weapon. It can support PvE damage, tanking, and PvP burst, but it has no ranged potential. Your second weapon should address what you need beyond its close-range control and damage. The options below are role tradeoffs, not a ranking of the best pairings for every activity.

Set the goal before settling on skills: a PvE damage setup, a tank setup, and a PvP burst setup do not have identical priorities. There is no substantiated current ranked meta list here that makes one second weapon the best choice across modes.
Use the control-to-burst sequence as an opportunity

The sequence’s effective cooldown is 24 seconds, as stated by the Games Lantern guide; that is guide-specific advice, not an official game statistic. It also depends on four skills landing and may not work every time. Treat it as a burst window, not the whole rotation. Fill the rest of your skills with damage, mobility, defense, or utility suited to your second weapon and activity. The available sources do not establish a universal current skill bar.

Weapon effects can change, so verify skill cores, specializations, and tooltips in your current game client before committing to a build. Amazon Game Studios’ Update 4.15.0, dated October 7, 2026, says weapon skill and potential ability effects were adjusted, but its listed weapon-specific changes do not include Greatsword. That absence does not establish that every Greatsword interaction is unchanged; use the live tooltips for the current details.
An earlier official patch illustrates why version context matters. In Update 4.7.0, Amazon Game Studios documented these Greatsword changes:
- Skill Core: Flash gained 12% damage amplification for three seconds per qualifying tornado hit, stacking up to 99 times; attacks from behind applied three stacks.
- Rear Strike gained All Species Bonus Damage +200 for three seconds.
- The Death Blow and Guillotine Blade charge specializations reduced the time to maximum charge by 25%.
- Guillotine Blade’s damage-amplification condition expanded to targets affected by any Collision effect.
These are Update 4.7.0 patch facts, not a substitute for checking later changes or the present in-game descriptions.

Do not copy an old stat allocation as current advice
A Greatsword/Staff community build is marked two years old. It can serve as a historical example, but it does not establish current stat breakpoints, best gear, or a present-day mode-specific build. Update 4.0.0 later added Gauntlets and raised the level cap to 60, further underscoring that older build assumptions may not fit the current game.
For a practical build, choose the pairing for the job you want to do, use the four-skill chain when its control conditions line up, and tune the rest around the skills and specializations shown in your current client. Exact current stat thresholds, best gear, and top combinations by mode are not established by the cited sources.
