To move a base in Dune: Awakening, either place another sub-fief and move your belongings manually, or store the base with the Base Reconstruction Tool and redeploy it. The tool moves the base as a unit, but it excludes vehicles and items that are not directly on or inside the base. For a move between Sietches or Worlds, back up the base and vehicles separately before transferring.
Build a base at a suitable site
Your base is anchored by a sub-fief. Choose a destination with enough usable space for the layout you want, and consider how difficult it would be to reproduce that spot elsewhere. That matters if you later use Snap to Origin: the tool attempts to place the base at its former position, but an occupied location may prevent that placement.

Official guidance from 2025 described a limit of up to three sub-fiefs. Treat that figure as dated guidance, not a confirmed current limit; check the live game for the limit that applies to your version.
Choose how to move the base
| Method | Best for | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Place another sub-fief and move items manually | Changing sites within a map when you want to build at the new location yourself | You must transfer belongings and structures as needed. Official 2025 guidance said deconstructed building pieces refunded 100% of their materials and a sub-fief refunded 50%; those rates are not confirmed as current. |
| Base Reconstruction Tool | Storing and redeploying a base as a unit | The base is removed from the world while stored. Vehicles and items not directly on or inside the base are excluded; map restrictions apply. |
| Base Recycling | Recovering materials and stored items instead of moving the base | Recycling is a recovery option, not a way to redeploy the stored base. |
Move within a map
Move manually with a new sub-fief
- Choose a new site and place another sub-fief there.
- Transfer your belongings and reconstruct or relocate structures as appropriate.
- Deconstruct building pieces you no longer need. The 100% building-piece and 50% sub-fief refund rates were stated in the team’s 2025 Communinet Signal #6; current rates may differ.
Store and redeploy the whole base
- Use the Base Reconstruction Tool to create a backup. The official feature announcement describes it as storing the base and its contents as a unit.
- Place the backup at the destination. Snap to Origin attempts to restore the base to its previous position; if that location is unavailable, choose another valid placement.
While stored, the base is removed from the world. Before backing it up, move anything you want to keep that is sitting on natural rock or otherwise not directly on or in the base. The official Q&A says such items are not included, and vehicles are not included either.

Move to another Sietch or World
- In Hagga Basin, back up the base with the Base Reconstruction Tool.
- Back up vehicles separately with the Vehicle Backup Tool. The base tool does not include them.
- Initiate the character transfer while in Hagga Basin. Patch 1.2.40.0 set this as a requirement and said the Base Reconstruction Tool could hold up to three base backups; check current in-game rules, as limits and transfer procedures can change.
- Scout the destination Sietch before settling. Official migration guidance recommends trying another Sietch if the base’s original position is occupied. Snap to Origin can help when preserving a specific position matters, but it does not guarantee that the spot will be available.
Migration guidance also describes transfer-token rules for particular moves. Token availability is not a universal rule, so check the current transfer flow for the move you are making.

Base Recycling, introduced in patch 1.3.15.0 on April 14, 2026, recovers 100% of the materials and items stored in a base backup, according to the patch notes. Recycling is for recovery: retain the backup if your goal is to place the base again.
