Play her by using cover and movement to choose your engagements, applying fire pressure, and leaving yourself a way out. Her kit burns enemies, amplifies burning damage, and gives her both a forward attack and a close-range damage-dodging strike. Her ultimate also has two forms: a charge while alive and a fiery self-revival when dead.
Understand Anran’s abilities
Anran’s kit rewards connecting her fire attacks with her burn-amplifying ability. The ability descriptions establish what each tool does; the sequences and choices below are practical interpretations, not officially prescribed combos.
Zhuque Fans and Ignition
Zhuque Fans fire fiery projectiles and provide Anran’s ranged pressure. Her Ignition passive burns enemies hit by fire attacks, linking those attacks to her other burn-focused ability. Blizzard’s descriptions do not state exact damage or burn duration values.
Fan the Flames
Fan the Flames releases a hot wind blast that amplifies burning damage. Look for opportunities to use it against burning enemies, but do not treat a particular timing window or combo as guaranteed: the official descriptions do not specify one.

Inferno Rush and Dancing Blaze
Inferno Rush propels Anran forward and damages enemies she impacts. It can help her enter a fight or reposition, but committing it to an engage may leave fewer movement options; whether to hold it for disengaging is a tactical decision, not an official rule.
Dancing Blaze strikes nearby enemies while dodging all damage, and Anran heals herself for each enemy hit. It is her documented close-range defensive and sustain tool. Its description does not establish that it will make every close-range engagement safe.

Vermillion Ascent and Vermillion Revival
Vermillion Ascent is the ultimate’s alive form: Anran charges forward, explodes on impact, and instantly ignites enemies. Consider where the charge will land and whether the impact can reach enemies; the official description does not name a required target or ideal timing.
If Anran is dead while her ultimate is available, it becomes Vermillion Revival, which revives her in a fiery explosion. The cited official descriptions do not detail its timing rules or all conditions that may affect it.

Choose perks for the situation
Blizzard’s hero page lists two Minor perks at level 2 and two Major perks at level 3. Their effects are documented; the considerations in the final column are tactical interpretations, not claims about win rates or universally strongest choices.
| Tier and level | Perk | Listed effect | When it may fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minor, level 2 | Smoulder | Ignited enemies burn 1.5 seconds longer. | Consider it if extending burn pressure is useful. |
| Minor, level 2 | Heat Shield | Gain 50 overhealth when using the ultimate and for each enemy it ignites. | Consider it if the ultimate may ignite multiple enemies or added overhealth supports your approach. |
| Major, level 3 | Short Fuse | Hitting an enemy with Inferno Rush reduces its cooldown by 1.5 seconds. | Consider it if you can connect with Inferno Rush reliably and value having it available again sooner. |
| Major, level 3 | Hungering Blaze | Increases the healing of Dancing Blaze’s subsequent strikes by 25. | Consider it when close-range sustain matters. |
The trade-offs are distinct: Smoulder extends burn duration, Heat Shield adds overhealth tied to the ultimate and ignitions, Short Fuse rewards Inferno Rush hits with cooldown reduction, and Hungering Blaze increases subsequent Dancing Blaze healing. The official page does not establish which is strongest overall or against particular opponents.

Build fights around pressure and a way out
- Approach from cover. As a Flanker, look for an angle that lets you pressure enemies without walking directly into concentrated fire. Blizzard identifies her role but does not prescribe routes or target priorities.
- Apply fire pressure before amplifying burns. Use Zhuque Fans to attack and take advantage of Ignition’s burn effect. Fan the Flames amplifies burning damage, so using it when enemies are burning follows naturally from the kit descriptions; it is not a guaranteed optimal combo.
- Decide what each movement ability is for. Inferno Rush moves Anran forward and damages enemies she impacts, while Dancing Blaze strikes nearby enemies and dodges all damage. Choose your engagement with an exit in mind rather than assuming either ability guarantees a safe escape.
- Plan the ultimate’s impact. While alive, Vermillion Ascent charges forward and explodes on impact, instantly igniting enemies. Consider the landing point before committing, since the official description does not provide a target-selection or timing guide.
- Account for the dead-state ultimate. If Anran dies with her ultimate available, it can take the Vermillion Revival form and revive her in a fiery explosion. Do not assume it applies in every game condition; the cited descriptions do not specify all limitations.
- Route through health packs when useful. Blizzard says health packs restore more health for heroes in the Flanker sub-role, which includes Anran.
What is confirmed—and what is not
Blizzard’s official hero page and Season 1 announcement describe Anran’s role, abilities, and perks. The official page was accessed October 8, 2026; its perk values are presented as listed there. Blizzard’s Season 1 announcement, dated February 10, 2026, says the season launched that day and that Anran’s early Hero Trial began February 5. Those dates describe the historical rollout, not a guarantee of current access.
The cited official sources do not establish current matchup rankings, map-specific strategies, optimal combos, win rates, damage values, or cooldowns beyond the perk effects listed above. Treat situational advice in this guide as tactical interpretation of the documented kit.
