To defeat Disgraced Chef Lugoli, reach the kitchen at the eastern end of Sinner’s Road, ring the gong, and defeat the two Roachservers it summons. Then dodge Lugoli’s arcing muckmaggot globs and attack during the openings after each move. Faydown Cloak, the double-jump ability, is required to reach the arena.
Where to find Lugoli and start the fight
Lugoli’s kitchen arena is at the eastern end of Sinner’s Road. PC Gamer’s route enters Sinner’s Road above Greymoor’s Halfway House; from the bench room, go right through the chamber with floor maggots and hanging cages, then use Faydown Cloak to reach the arena. The Hollow Knight Wiki also lists the eastern Sinner’s Road location and Faydown Cloak requirement.
- Reach the arena with Faydown Cloak.
- Ring the large gong to begin the encounter.
- Defeat the two Roachservers that appear. Lugoli arrives only after they are defeated.
How to handle Lugoli’s attacks
The attack labels below follow the Hollow Knight Wiki; the wiki notes that most of its attack names are not canonical in-game names. Focus on reading the movement and avoiding the globs. Attack in the openings after a move rather than trading hits through a projectile pattern.
Floating slam and glob spread
Lugoli rises, tracks Hornet, moves above her, then slams down and sends four Muckmaggot Globs arcing outward—two in each direction. Keep moving to avoid the arcs, then look for a safe opening once they pass.

Horizontal leap and slam
Lugoli leaps rear-first toward Hornet, crossing roughly half the arena before slamming down. PC Gamer suggests jumping to pogo during this sideways attack. Treat that as a possible attack opportunity, not a guaranteed counter; prioritize avoiding the landing if your timing or position is uncertain.
Ladle strike
After a brief wind-up, Lugoli swings the ladle toward Hornet and sends two globs arcing forward. Watch for the wind-up, move clear of the projected arcs, and attack when the path is safe.

Muckmaggot Dive in the second phase
At half health, Lugoli roars and dives beneath the muck-covered floor, choosing the left, center, or right side. Two globs arc out as Lugoli dives; when Lugoli resurfaces from that same location, four more are thrown. The center trajectories are not symmetrical, so do not rely on a mirrored dodge. Track where Lugoli enters and emerges, read the arcs, and attack only after you have a safe opening.
Managing the muckmaggot globs
The globs deal damage and cause infestation. According to the Hollow Knight Wiki, they ricochet off walls and disappear when they hit the ground. A regular Needle strike stops a glob’s forward momentum and drops it; Needle Strikes from the Hunter, Reaper, and Beast Crests can destroy them.

- Evade: Move clear of the arcs and use the lull after an attack to reposition or strike.
- Interrupt: A regular Needle strike halts a glob and drops it, but does not destroy it.
- Destroy: The Needle Strikes associated with Hunter, Reaper, and Beast Crests can destroy globs.
- Resist infestation: Wreath of Purity prevents infestation up to three times, but does not block damage from the globs.
These are options, not prerequisites for winning. Even with infestation protection, you still need to avoid the projectiles’ damage.

The Hollow Knight Wiki reports an Act 3 variation if Lugoli has not been fought before then: Lugoli becomes black-threaded, has 1,200 HP rather than the listed normal 600 HP, and gains a Void Blades attack. The wiki lists the normal phase transition at 300 of 600 HP. These figures and the Act 3 behavior are community-wiki encounter data; PC Gamer does not independently corroborate that variation.
