To get the Taste for Blood Warrior helm rune in WoW Classic: Season of Discovery, collect four Giant Golem appendages in Searing Gorge, use them at the stone head near /way 65 45 to summon Iodax the Obliterator, then defeat him to obtain the Rune of the Bloodthirsty. A Rune Broker may offer an alternative, but check its current stock in-game.
Collect the four Giant Golem appendages
Head to the Slag Pits area of Searing Gorge and gather the four pieces listed below. These approximate waypoints come from the Wowhead rune guide; treat them as navigation estimates rather than exact, independently verified coordinates.
| Item | Guide-provided location |
|---|---|
| Giant Golem Foot | Inside the Slag Pits, around /way 43 32.3. |
| Giant Golem Arm | In the Incendosaur cave below the Slag Pits, around /way 49.4 37.1. |
| Giant Golem Foot | Toward the back of the Incendosaur cave, around /way 42.6 30. |
| Giant Golem Arm | Around /way 42 44. |
The [Wowhead Warrior rune guide] lists these pieces as the components for the summon.
Summon Iodax the Obliterator
- Once you have all four appendages, travel to the stone head in eastern Searing Gorge, around /way 65 45.
- Interact with the head to summon Iodax the Obliterator.
- Defeat the elite to obtain Rune of the Bloodthirsty, the item used to learn Taste for Blood.
Prepare for the elite fight
Wowhead estimates Iodax at around 11,000 health and says he hits hard and can stun for three seconds. Those are guide estimates, not fresh combat measurements. The guide recommends bringing friends; it says soloing may be possible around level 50 with careful use of cooldowns. Taste for Blood is listed as a Warrior helm rune, with level 45 as the guide’s minimum-level recommendation.

Can you buy the rune from a Rune Broker?
Wowhead reports that Class Runes and Class Skill Books can be purchased from Rune Brokers in race-specific capital cities. Its listed Alliance cities are Darnassus, Ironforge, and Stormwind; its listed Horde cities are Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, and Undercity. The guide does not establish that this specific rune is currently available from every broker or on every realm, so check the broker in-game before relying on this option.
The guide also warns that learning rune abilities from a broker may interfere with some related discoveries or rune quests. If you want to complete the world encounter or avoid that caveat, use the four-piece summon route instead.

What the rune does in Season of Discovery
Taste for Blood is a Warrior helm rune, and Wowhead labels it best for Warrior DPS. More broadly, Blizzard describes Season of Discovery runes as a way to grant access to class abilities not available in WoW Classic. The [official Season of Discovery announcement] provides that general context; it does not detail this rune’s acquisition.
