You can unlock characters in Duet Night Abyss through gameplay; you do not have to pay. The main repeatable route is to earn Secret Letter Clues, exchange them for a character’s Secret Letter, then use that letter in a Covert Commission to earn character rewards. For Psyche, check the live Shop and event listings: her documented appearances are historical, so they do not confirm where she is available now.
How to unlock characters through Secret Letters
The repeatable route described in a Prima Games guide published October 28, 2025 links three steps: collect Secret Letter Clues, exchange clues for the character-specific Secret Letter, and complete a Covert Commission using that letter.

- Earn Secret Letter Clues. The guide lists daily quests, commissions, and collection rewards as sources.
- Exchange clues for the character’s Secret Letter. Open the in-game Shop and look for the letter associated with the character you want. The 2025 guide reports a cost of ten clues per letter, but that is a launch-era figure; check the live Shop for the current price.
- Run a Covert Commission. Use the character’s Secret Letter in the commission and claim its character reward. Repeat as needed, following the current unlock requirements shown in-game.
The available sources do not establish a current number of Thoughts or shards required, so use the character unlock screen rather than relying on an unverified count.
Other ways to find a character’s Secret Letter
Not every character’s route is necessarily identical at every point in the game. The official App Store listing and version history describes characters as free to unlock and says newly introduced characters can be obtained through Secret Letters or the Shop after their respective updates. It also records Secret Letters offered through limited-time Immersive Theatre rewards.

- Check the Shop for a permanent exchange or a newly added character’s listed acquisition route.
- Check current events and challenge modes for time-limited Secret Letter rewards. Event lineups can change with updates, so an old reward announcement does not mean the character is featured now.
- Use the live character and reward screens to confirm the required item, cost, and whether an offer is still active.
The official version 1.6 update, dated September 8, 2026, names Falsi and Stifled Howl as Secret Letters added to limited-time Immersive Theatre rewards. That dated example illustrates why event availability should be checked in-game rather than assumed from an older guide.

Start by checking the current Shop and event rewards for Psyche’s Secret Letter or another listed unlock route. If her Secret Letter is available, follow the in-game exchange requirements and use it in the relevant Covert Commission.
Psyche was documented as the featured Immersive Theatre character at launch in an Epic Games Store progression guide published October 28, 2025. The official update history later listed a “Psyche’s Event Limited Myriad Rerun.” These are past appearances, not confirmation that Psyche is in the current rotation or a particular permanent Shop inventory. The public update record does not provide a complete live character-by-character inventory.
Do you have to pay?
No. The official App Store listing states, “All characters and weapons are free to unlock.” The Shop is also described as an acquisition option, but its presence does not mean payment is required. Check the in-game listing to see what a particular character currently requires; do not assume every character has the same route or that a purchase is necessary.
