Connections #494 answers for October 17, 2024
| Color | Category | Words |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | GRASSY AREA | GREEN, LAWN, PARK, YARD |
| Green | DEAL WITH | ADDRESS, ANSWER, FIELD, HANDLE |
| Blue | MOVIES WITH “S” REMOVED | CAR, GOODFELLA, JAW, SWINGER |
| Purple | ___ LAW | CRIMINAL, HARVARD, LEMON, NATURAL |
Why the groups fit
Yellow: GRASSY AREA
GREEN, LAWN, PARK, and YARD can each refer to a grassy outdoor area.
Green: DEAL WITH
ADDRESS, ANSWER, FIELD, and HANDLE can all mean to deal with something. FIELD is the tempting misdirection: alongside GREEN, LAWN, and PARK, it looks like another outdoor word, but its verb meaning makes it fit this group.
Blue: MOVIES WITH “S” REMOVED
Add an S to each displayed word to restore a movie title: CAR becomes Scar, GOODFELLA becomes Goodfellas, JAW becomes Jaws, and SWINGER becomes Swingers.
#1 Best Overall
Purple: ___ LAW
Put LAW after each word to make a familiar phrase: criminal law, Harvard Law, lemon law, and natural law.
