Infestation unlocks automatically once Doomsteel is unlocked on 30 weapons. Track current requirements in the in-game Camo Challenge tracker, since challenge details can change with live updates.
How Zombies Mastery Camo progression works
Camos are earned separately for each weapon, and an unlocked Mastery Camo can only be used on the weapon that earned it. Before pursuing a weapon’s Mastery tiers, complete its nine Military Camos in order and then its three Special Camos. Activision’s Black Ops 7 progression guide describes the criteria and notes that Weapon Matrix Guides may be updated during live seasons.

Complete the nine Military Camos
For most weapon classes, Zombies Military Camos require cumulative critical-kill totals. Shotguns use point-blank kills instead, while launchers and melee weapons use eliminations. The listed thresholds for the standard critical-kill route are:

These are the standard criteria, not a universal rule for every class; check the selected weapon’s tracker if it is a shotgun, launcher, or melee weapon.

Finish the weapon-specific Special Camos
All three Special Camo challenges become available after that weapon’s Military Camos are complete. Their objectives vary by weapon, so do not assume another gun uses the same tasks. For example, Activision lists these Zombies challenges for the MXR-17: Mutilate requires five rapid critical kills 15 times; Slither requires 10 kills without reloading 15 times; Pathfinder requires 300 eliminations with the Cryo Freeze Ammo Mod equipped.

Golden Dragon: 15 sets of 10 rapid kills
After finishing the selected weapon’s Military and Special Camos, complete the rapid-kill objective 15 times. The requirement is 10 kills rapidly per completion, not 15 total kills.

Bloodstone: finish the weapon type, then survive five streaks
Golden Dragon must be unlocked on the selected weapon and all weapons of its type before you can complete Bloodstone. Activision’s examples of a weapon type include all assault rifles or all SMGs. Then earn five separate streaks of at least 20 consecutive kills without taking damage using the selected weapon.
Doomsteel: 30 Bloodstone weapons plus Elite kills
Unlock Bloodstone on 30 weapons, then use the weapon you are progressing to eliminate 10 Elite Zombies. The 30-weapon requirement is a prerequisite; the 10 Elite eliminations are the selected weapon’s own challenge.

Infestation has no additional individual kill or survival objective. It unlocks automatically when Doomsteel is unlocked on 30 weapons.
Where to track your camo challenges
Activision lists two routes for checking progression. Open Career > Challenges > Camos to track challenges, or view a weapon’s camo from Weapons > Loadouts > Gunsmith > Customize > Camo. Use the selected weapon’s in-game tracker to confirm its class-specific Military criteria and current challenge status.

What the four Zombies Mastery Camos look like
Activision describes Golden Dragon as animated and reflective; Bloodstone as animated, reflective, and marked by shifting crystalline veins; Doomsteel as animated with rotating cogs and green energy; and Infestation as animated and reactive, with color-shifting tendrils. Each camo is earned per weapon and can only be equipped on that weapon.

The official launch progression guide lists 30 weapons as the threshold for both Bloodstone-to-Doomsteel progression and the final Infestation unlock. Separately, Activision’s Zombies launch overview says the game launched with 30 main and melee armaments. The broader game has 16 Mastery Camos across four modes, according to the official progression guide; that is the game-wide total, not the Zombies-only count. No verified completion-time estimate is provided by the cited sources, so the number of matches or hours required will depend on play and should not be treated as a fixed figure.
