How to catch Blue Widow
- Travel to Murmur Rills in North Shroud, near X:26, Y:25. Fallgourd Float is the nearby aetheryte.
- Equip Floating Minnow.
- Fish during the 09:00–14:00 Eorzean Time window. A June 2024 catch guide says Fish Eyes can bypass the time restriction if you want to attempt the catch outside that window. (Gamer Escape, June 2024)
- Wait for the !!! bite and use Powerful Hookset. Do not hook smaller tugs for this fish.
Using Fish Eyes, Chum and Gathering references
Fish Eyes
Fish Eyes is reported as a way to ignore Blue Widow’s time requirement, but that detail comes from a secondary catch guide, not a Blue Widow-specific Square Enix entry. (Gamer Escape, June 2024)

Chum
The same guide recommends Chum to shorten the wait. Treat it as optional advice: it is not listed as a requirement for catching Blue Widow. (Gamer Escape, June 2024)
Gathering
A community big-fish table lists 325+ Gathering, but the reviewed catch references do not establish that figure as a hard minimum. Use it as a reference value, not a confirmed requirement. (FFXIV / FF14 Online Community Wiki and Guide)

Why Powerful Hookset is the right choice
The Blue Widow fishing-hole log identifies the bite as !!! and specifies Powerful Hookset. Square Enix’s Patch 7.0 notes explain that the Fish Guide indicates whether a fish requires Precision Hookset or Powerful Hookset; that feature note supports checking the in-game guide, but is not a Blue Widow-specific catch listing. (Square Enix Patch 7.0 Notes)
