April 12, 2024, Strands answers
NYT Strands game #40 is built around repeated words or letter sequences. The spangram, REPETITION, names that shared pattern.
- Theme clue: “You can say that again!”
- Spangram: REPETITION
- Other answers: MURMUR, COUSCOUS, TUTU, CANCAN, POMPOM, MAMA and GOGO
How the words fit the theme
Each theme answer repeats a word or sequence of letters: MURMUR repeats “mur,” COUSCOUS repeats “cous,” and TUTU, CANCAN, POMPOM, MAMA and GOGO follow the same pattern. REPETITION ties the set together. TechRadar describes the spangram as “two words in one” and reports that its route runs from the top of the third column to the bottom of the third column. TechRadar’s April 12 Strands guide gives that route detail.
Need a hint instead of the full list?
For a less direct nudge, look for a word whose letters repeat in a recognizable sequence; once you spot one, the theme clue points toward the wider pattern. Strands is a themed word search, and its answer guides note that finding non-theme words can help earn hints. Try Hard Guides’ Strands answer guide describes that mechanic.
