Fiery Hearthsteed came from logging into Hearthstone during its 2024 anniversary promotion; Compass Rose came from World of Warcraft’s in-game anniversary event. Both original earning windows have passed, and the available sources do not confirm a current alternate way to obtain either mount.
How the two mounts were earned
| Mount | Original method | Deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Fiery Hearthsteed | Log into Hearthstone; new players also had to progress past the tutorial | May 14, 2024 |
| Compass Rose | Join the Hearthstone encounter during the WoW event and earn the reward from Dr. Boom | March 22, 2024 |
These were separate promotions: Fiery Hearthsteed was tied to a Hearthstone login, while Compass Rose was tied to activity inside WoW. Blizzard’s anniversary announcement listed both rewards and their respective windows.
How Fiery Hearthsteed was obtained
- Between March 11 and May 14, 2024, log into Hearthstone using the relevant account.
- If you were new to Hearthstone, progress past the tutorial. Blizzard’s article stated: “New to Hearthstone? You’ll need to progress past the tutorial to receive the mount.” Returning players only needed to log in.
- After the reward was processed, check the mount collection in World of Warcraft.
Blizzard described Fiery Hearthsteed as a flying mount and said the promotion was not available in WoW Classic titles. The announcement does not give a troubleshooting process for delayed or missing rewards.
How Compass Rose was obtained
- During the March 11–22, 2024 WoW event, travel to Stormwind Harbor, Durotar outside Orgrimmar, or Valdrakken.
- Take part in the Hearthstone encounter. Blizzard said players could stay for a special encounter with Whizbang and defeat iconic minions to earn Hearthstone-themed rewards, including Compass Rose.
- Defeat Dr. Boom for a chance at the mount. Wowhead’s item database identifies Compass Rose as an account-wide, bind-on-pickup mount item obtained from Dr. Boom during the event.
Wowhead reports a 3.02% drop chance on its item page, Compass Rose – Item – World of Warcraft. This is a third-party database figure, not a Blizzard-confirmed rate or a guarantee of how many attempts any player would need.

Can you still get the anniversary mounts?
The documented Fiery Hearthsteed login promotion ended May 14, 2024, and the WoW event that awarded Compass Rose ended March 22, 2024. The reviewed Blizzard announcements do not establish a currently active alternate acquisition method or a rerun, so logging into Hearthstone now should not be expected to grant Fiery Hearthsteed. That does not prove either mount has been permanently removed.
For any later return, check current Blizzard WoW announcements and the in-game collection or event calendar. Blizzard’s earlier February 12, 2024 event preview also described the promotion in advance, but it does not establish present availability.
