How to Unkick a Player in Minecraft

There is no special Minecraft unkick command. Try joining again; if access is still blocked, the host must check the ban or invitation settings, or an account ban must be appealed.

There’s no special “unkick” command for an ordinary Minecraft kick: the player should try joining again. If they still cannot get in, ask the host to check for a ban or other access restriction. The fix depends on whether the player is joining a friend’s world, a Realm, or a private server—and an account-level Minecraft ban must be appealed through Minecraft Help.

First, tell a kick from a ban

A kick removes a player from a server; it does not, by itself, mean the player has been banned. Minecraft documents /kick <playername> as the command to remove someone from a server, but its command guide does not list an “unkick” command. Minecraft’s command guide also covers commands such as /ban and /op.

If the player was disconnected once, have them try to join again. If each attempt fails or the message says they are banned or denied access, the host needs to check the relevant access rules. The wording of an error can help identify the issue, but the host or administrator controls access to a private world, Realm, or server.

How to restore access, depending on where you play

A friend’s hosted world

  1. Have the kicked player try to rejoin the same multiplayer session.
  2. If they cannot, ask the friend hosting the world to confirm the session is open to them and resend the invite if the game uses one.
  3. If the host sees a ban or another restriction, the host must change it before the player can return.

A Realm

  1. Ask the Realm owner to confirm the player still has access and to send another invitation if needed.
  2. Have the player accept the invite and join the Realm that matches their Minecraft edition.

Java and Bedrock multiplayer use different routes, and their Realms services are edition-specific. Check Minecraft’s server and multiplayer guidance and its Java-versus-Bedrock comparison if you are unsure which edition or service applies.

A private server

Contact the server administrator. A private-server ban is controlled by that server, so only its administrator can decide whether to lift it. Minecraft Help directs players banned or suspended from private servers to contact the administrator.

A Minecraft account-level ban

An account-level Minecraft ban is separate from a server operator’s ban. Minecraft says an affected account cannot play on servers or join Realms. Use the official Case Review appeal process for an account ban; asking a private-server admin to unban you will not resolve an account-level restriction.

Who can fix it?

  • One-time kick: the player tries to join again.
  • World or Realm access issue: ask the host or Realm owner to check access and resend an invitation where relevant.
  • Private-server ban: contact that server’s administrator.
  • Minecraft account ban: submit an appeal through Minecraft Help’s Case Review process.

Multiplayer commands require sufficient permission. If you are not the world owner, Realm owner, or server administrator, you cannot change the host’s ban or access settings yourself; ask the person who manages them. Minecraft’s command documentation explains the relevant command permissions.

Why “/unkick” is not the fix

Minecraft’s documented command guide includes /kick, but not a matching /unkick command. After an ordinary kick, rejoining is the first step. If access remains blocked, the host must identify and remove the actual restriction—or, for an account-level ban, the player must use the appeal process.
